CHANDIGARH,09.11.2025-The Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, PGIMER, Chandigarh, under the aegis of *National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), organised a **Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders (SRBD)”* and a *Hands-on Workshop on Allergy as part of the **65th Annual Conference of NAMSCON 2025*.

Coordinated by *Prof. Sandeep Bansal*, Department of Otolaryngology, PGIMER—an internationally recognised Sleep Surgeon—the event drew participation from distinguished faculty and delegates representing leading medical institutions across India. The CME, accredited with **4 PMC credit points focused on enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic expertise in managing sleep-related and allergic airway disorders through interactive lectures and demonstrations.

Speaking on the occasion, *Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER*, underscored the growing burden of sleep disorders in India and the urgent need for awareness and collaborative care as he
stated, “Sleep deprivation and disordered breathing have emerged as a silent epidemic with far-reaching health consequences,” noted Prof. Lal. “At PGIMER, our emphasis is on deepening research, fostering multidisciplinary understanding, and translating scientific evidence into better patient outcomes.”

*Prof. Sandeep Bansal*, in his remarks, highlighted the need for early recognition and specialised interventions for patients with sleep-related and allergic conditions. as he stated, “Sleep-disordered breathing often remains underdiagnosed and undertreated,” he said. “Through such CMEs and workshops, we aim to equip clinicians with the skills and insights to address these conditions effectively and improve quality of life for patients.”

The academic sessions brought together eminent experts, including *Padma Shri Prof. Mohan Kameswaran (MERF, Chennai), **Dr. Rahul Modi (Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai), **Dr. Vijayakrishnan (MERF, Chennai), and **Dr. Srinivas Kishore (AIG, Hyderabad), who discussed advances in the pathophysiology, evaluation, and management of **Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)* and related disorders.

The scientific program featured sessions on *Dental Aspects in OSA Management, **Insomnia and COMISA, and **Paediatric OSA*, offering a comprehensive perspective across age groups and disciplines.

The *Hands-on Workshop on Allergy, led by **Prof. Satyawati Mohindra, provided practical demonstrations on **skin prick testing, **food allergy diagnosis, and **management of unified airway disease. **Dr. Shakuntla Lavasa* and *Dr. Nitika Gupta* also shared valuable insights on the clinical spectrum and treatment strategies for allergic diseases.

The event was graced by *Padma Shri Dr. Digambar Behera, President NAMS, and **Padma Shri Dr. Yogesh Chawla*, NAMS Observer, who lauded PGIMER’s ongoing contribution to academic excellence and capacity building through high-impact scientific collaborations.
