Chandigarh, October 13, 2025: A series of community awareness and health outreach activities were recently conducted across various locations, including Manimajra, Palsora, and RC Dhanas-I, aimed at improving maternal and child health, promoting nutritional awareness, and enhancing digital health identity coverage.

At Manimajra, an awareness session on the importance of consuming seasonal fruits and vegetables was organized. The session highlighted the health benefits of seasonal produce and encouraged the community to include them in their daily diet. Alongside this, a drive for ABHA ID generation (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) was held to promote access to digital health services and empower individuals with their unique health identities.

In Palsora, a detailed lecture was conducted on proper breastfeeding techniques. Health professionals guided new and expecting mothers on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, proper latching techniques, and the role of early initiation of breastfeeding in reducing infant mortality and enhancing immunity.

A comprehensive multi-service health camp was held at RC Dhanas-I, offering PMMVY enrolment and generation of ABHA ID, APAAR ID, and Aadhaar cards. The camp also offered counseling sessions on maternal nutrition and child health, aiming to improve service delivery under ICDS and related schemes.

Additionally, several minor yet impactful events were carried out across AWCs (Anganwadi Centres), focusing on maternal, child health, and early education. These included promotion of early breastfeeding, use of millets for pregnant women, regular growth monitoring, and pre-school education for children aged 3 to 6 years.

Awareness lectures were also organized on a variety of health and nutrition-related topics such as overall nutrition, oral hygiene, food fortification and micronutrients, and the importance of complementary feeding. Special sessions were held on the identification and management of SAM (Severe Acute Malnutrition) children, helping Anganwadi workers and caregivers recognize and address malnutrition at early stages.

To further promote environmental sustainability and household nutrition, lectures on the promotion of fruit-bearing plants were delivered. Meanwhile, home visits were conducted to spread awareness about the importance of ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education) and oral hygiene.

A significant outreach effort involved home visits across all 450 AWCs. These visits focused on promoting institutional deliveries, identifying childhood obesity, and providing counselling on healthy eating habits. Through these visits, frontline workers ensured that every household with young children and expectant mothers received guidance and support.

These collective efforts reflect a strong commitment to community health, nutrition, and child development, empowering families through education, support, and access to essential government services.
