HARDEEP SINGH MUNDIAN LAYS FOUNDATION STONES FOR EIGHT KEY LINK ROAD PROJECTS WORTH RS.12.15-CR

Chandigarh/Ludhiana, September 22:Punjab Revenue Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian on Monday laid the foundation stones for eight key link roads infrastructural projects worth Rs.12.15 crores, aiming to enhance connectivity and facilitate commuters.

The link road projects include link Gaddowal to Karour (1.80 km), Mangarh to Kohara-Machhiwara (1.10 km), Katani Khurd to Kot Gangu Rai, Upplan Sanghe to Machhiwara (7.20 km), Chhandran to Katani (1.23 km), Chandigarh road to Chhandran (1.20 km), LC road to Heeran to Barwala to Sahnewal to Ramgarh (10.70 km), , Heeran to Kanech (2.12 km) and Sahnewal Khurd road (0.73 km).

The Cabinet Minister stressed the Punjab government is committed to provide world-class road infrastructure to its citizens. These initiatives are part of the Punjab government’s broader vision, under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, to deliver world-class road infrastructure across the state.

S. Mundian informed that these projects will enhance connectivity, improve access and ensure smoother travel for residents. He emphasized the government’s commitment to timely completion for maximum public benefit. He also added that the upgraded roads are expected to ease commuting, stimulate local economic growth and contribute to the overall development of the region.

13 ACTIVE RELIEF CAMPS REMAINED ONLY IN GURDASPUR WITH JUST 10 INMATES: HARDEEP SINGH MUNDIAN

Chandigarh, September 22:Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian today informed that the flood situation in the State continues to stabilise as more affected families are returning to their homes.

He said that while 219 relief camps were opened across Punjab, currently only 13 camps remain active, that too only in Gurdaspur, sheltering just 10 inmates. Notably, 25 active camps with 163 inmates were reported a day earlier.

The Revenue Minister said that districts like Fazilka and Jalandhar, which had 50 and 103 inmates respectively in the relief camps yesterday, have reported nil camps and inmates today.

He further stated that since August 1, as many as 23,340 individuals have been evacuated to safety, reflecting the extensive evacuation operations carried out by the administration.

The Cabinet Minister said that floods have impacted 22 districts and 2555 villages, affecting a population of 3,89,445. A total 57 human lives have been lost and 4 persons remain missing since August 1. He said that crop damage across the State has been assessed at 1,99,926.2 hectares.

Tarunpreet Singh Sond expresses grief over the demise of noted music composer Janab Charanjit Ahuja

Chandigarh, September 22:-Punjab’s Minister for Cultural Affairs, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned music composer Janab Charanjit Ahuja.

In his condolence message, Sond said that with the passing away of Ahuja Sahib, an era of Punjabi music has come to an end. He added that Ahuja’s soulful and timeless compositions will continue to resonate for generations to come. “Charanjit Ahuja’s melodies were not only unique and soothing but also unforgettable. He played a pivotal role in taking many singers to great heights while himself remaining deeply grounded,” said the Minister.

Sond further stated that the void created by the departure of such a legendary musical personality can never be filled. “For music lovers, Charanjit Ahuja will remain alive in their hearts through his immortal tunes,” he added.

Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Sond prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family, relatives, and admirers of Ahuja to bear this irreparable loss.

— PROMPT TREATMENT OF AILING PEOPLE AT FLOOD AFFECTED AREAS AVERTED MAJOR DISEASE OUTBREAK: HEALTH MINISTER DR BALBIR SINGH

CHANDIGARH, September 22:The one week of ongoing Punjab Government’s massive ‘Special Health Campaign’ in flood-affected areas has shown remarkable results with medical teams established health camps across all 2303 targeted villages, conducting as many as 2,47,958 OPD consultations, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh here on Monday.

This massive effort enabled prompt treatment of 31,717 fever cases, 7,832 diarrhoea cases, 36,119 skin infections and 16,884 eye infections, preventing these conditions from escalating into larger outbreaks.

Notably, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh led Punjab Government had orders a massive mobilization of the state’s entire medical fraternity, directing the deployment of all available resources—including government doctors, newly recruited medical officers, private volunteers, Ayurveda medical officers, and MBBS interns—to spearhead a ‘Special Health Campaign’ in 2303 flood-affected villages on September 14.

Releasing the cumulative data from September 14 till now, the Health Minister stated that the strategic focus on preemptive action has yielded significant results, with only five malaria cases detected despite extensive door-to-door screening of over 7 lakh households by the army of over 20,000 ASHA workers. The health teams have also distributed 2.27 lakh essential health kits, he said.

“These numbers represent a successful containment of health disaster. Where major outbreaks were anticipated, our preemptive strategy has created a strong health shield around our communities,” said Dr Balbir Singh. “The minimal number of malaria cases and effective management of other ailments demonstrate that our three-pronged approach is working effectively on ground.”

Similarly, intensive vector-control drives have covered 6.22 lakh households for mosquito breeding, finding and destroying breeding sites in 11,582 houses. As a critical preventive measure, preemptive larvicide was sprayed at 1.43 lakh houses, and extensive fumigation was carried out in all the flood-affected villages to break the disease transmission cycle.
