Chandigarh, August 5, 2025-The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Panjab University (PU) today organised the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the banner of the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme, an initiative by the Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports, Government of India.

As many as 155 enthusiastic NSS volunteers from PU campus and different affiliated colleges participated in the programme. The programme was organised in leadership of NSS Coordinator Dr. Parveen Goyal, Programme Officer Dr. Sonia Sharma, and other NSS Programme Officers.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig addressed the students with an inspiring keynote, underscoring the pivotal role of youth in shaping the nation’s future. In her speech, she called upon all student volunteers to register on the ‘My Bharat’ portal — a national digital platform created to engage youth in developmental initiatives. She urged the NSS volunteers to register at 'My Bharat portal'. “From CV drafting and participation in the Experiential Learning Programme (ELP), this platform is beneficial to students in industrial-academic collaboration as well”, she added.

In a show of solidarity, Prof Renu Vig also joined the students in the Tiranga March. She also administered an oath to the NSS Volunteers and participants to encourage them in contributing towards 'Viksit Bharat'.

A series of competitions were also held as part of the event, including poster-making, rangoli, poetry, and dance in which many students participated.

The programme was graced by several senior faculty members and officers of the university, including Dean of University Instruction Prof. Yojna Rawat, Director of the Research Development Cell Prof Meenakshi Goyal, Prof Sonal Chawla, Prof Gaurav Verma, Prof Ashutosh Kumar, Prof Dinesh Kumar and Executive Engineer Anil Thakur
