Chandigarh, July 28, 2025:As part of its Green Campus Initiative, the University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a Plantation Drive to mark Van Mahotsav 2025.

The event aimed to strengthen environmental awareness, promote sustainable practices, and instill a strong sense of ecological responsibility among students and staff.

Faculty members, guest faculty, research scholars, staff, and MBA students from both First and Second Year actively participated in the plantation activity. Several saplings were planted across the UIAMS campus on the occasion.

The event was graced by several distinguished Guests of Honour, including Mr. Pankaj Raheja, Vice President, Axis Bank; Mr. Dharampal Sharma, Assistant Vice President, Axis Bank; Prof. Kewal Krishan, Dean, International Students; Prof. Meena Sharma, Director, Central Placement Cell; and Dr. Vineet Punia, Director, Public Relations, Panjab University.

In his address, Mr. Raheja lauded the initiative and emphasised the role of corporate responsibility in environmental conservation.

The invited dignitaries appreciated UIAMS’s focus on holistic education and sustainability-driven careers. They commended the institute’s efforts and stressed the role of effective communication in inspiring environmental participation.

Earlier, Prof. Anupreet Kaur Mavi, Director, UIAMS, delivered the welcome address and emphasised the importance of integrating sustainability into management education and leadership development.

Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Training and Placement Officer, UIAMS, received a special vote of thanks for his dedicated efforts in coordinating the event.

The drive concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to remain committed to environmental protection and contribute actively towards building a sustainable future.
