Chandigarh, June 25:Thanks to the quick intervention and swift action of Punjab Governor and UT Chandigarh Administrator, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, a youth from Narayanbagad region in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand was rescued from bonded labour after 15 long years. The youth had been forced to work at a cowshed in Dinewal village of Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, tending to cattle under most repugnant and exploitative conditions.

The matter came to light when Lok Sabha MP and Chief Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Anil Baluni, shared a viral video on social media, highlighting the distressing plight of the youth.

Taking immediate cognizance of the video, Governor Kataria directed Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Gaurav Yadav to take prompt action. Responding swiftly, the DGP mobilized the Tarn Taran district police, who located the victim within hours and rescued him from the custody of the cowshed owner.

Efforts to send the rescued youth back to his native village in Narayanbagad, Chamoli, were initiated the same night. Meanwhile, a case was registered against the cowshed operator at the Goindwal Sahib police station in Tarn Taran, and legal proceedings have been initiated.

Shri Anil Baluni, who brought the matter to attention through the video, expressed his gratitude to Governor Kataria and DGP Gaurav Yadav for their timely and humanitarian response. He said such compassionate leadership restores faith in justice and gives hope to the vulnerable.
