Himachal jumps from 21st to 5th Rank in NAS in quality education

SHIMLA-25th June, 2025-Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Himachal Pradesh has made remarkable strides in the field of education. The latest National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2025, also known as PARAKH 2025, has placed the state at 5th position in overall ranking Nationally, a significant jump from 21st rank in the 2021 survey conducted during the previous BJP-led government. According to the survey, Himachal Pradesh ranked 2nd at the Grade 3 level, 5th at Grade 6, and 4th at Grade 9, clearly reflecting substantial qualitative improvements in the state’s education system.

This notable progress is attributed to a series of focused reforms introduced by the present government under the guidance of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. These include the merger of schools with low student enrollment, rationalization of teaching staff, fast-tracking the recruitment process for vacant posts, and the phased establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools across all assembly constituencies. In addition, exposure visits for teachers and students to international educational institutions have contributed to enhancing global learning perspectives and overall academic quality. These strategic steps have led to measurable improvements in learning outcomes and overall educational quality.

Rajesh Sharma, State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, termed the state’s performance in NAS 2025 as a major achievement. He stated that an official announcement regarding this ranking will be made on July 2 in Delhi, where he will represent the state. He emphasized that the result is a direct outcome of the consistent and reform-driven policies of the state government. The achievement reinforces Himachal Pradesh’s growing status as a model for quality education in the country.
