MC Chandigarh issues Public Advisory on Safety Measures amidst predicted inclement weather
Chandigarh, June 4:- In view of the weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department indicating possible rainfall and storm conditions in the coming days, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has issued a precautionary advisory for all residents and visitors of the city.
While sepaking about the advisory, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, MC Commissioner said here today that to ensure public safety and prevent damage to life and property, the following guidelines are hereby issued:
* Avoid parking vehicles under heavy, overgrown, or old trees during adverse weather conditions.
* Refrain from standing or taking shelter under trees, particularly those that appear aged or structurally weak, during rain or strong winds.
* Limit travel and pedestrian movement along tree-lined roads during heavy rain or stormy conditions, unless absolutely necessary.
* Do not touch electric poles, streetlights, or park light fixtures as these may pose serious risks of electrocution during or after rainfall.
* Maintain a safe distance from both trees and electrical installations throughout the period of inclement weather.
He appealed to all citizens to exercise caution and cooperate fully in ensuring their own safety and that of others. These measures are being implemented in the collective interest of public safety and the protection of city infrastructure.

MC Road panel for resurface damaged roads on priority this year
Chandigarh, June 4:- A meeting of the Road Committee of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Dalip Sharma and attended by other committee members Councillor Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Sh. Maheshinder Singh Sidhu, Smt. Suman Devi, Smt. Nirmala Devi Manaur, Sh. Naresh Panchal, along with concerned officers of the Municipal Corporation.
The committee discussed in detail the condition of roads across various sectors and Villages of the city and stressed the need to take immediate action. Roads found to be in a severely deteriorated state will be taken up on priority and resurfaced within the current financial year.
The committee suggested to identify and submit a list of such roads and begin the necessary tendering process without delay. The members also emphasized ensuring high-quality work and timely completion to improve commuting conditions for city residents.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Chandigarh’s road infrastructure and ensuring effective utilization of municipal funds.
