CHANDIGARH,10.05.25-A high-level committee conducted a comprehensive spot visit to the Advanced Trauma Centre (ATC) at PGIMER Chandigarh under the leadership of Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER. The visit aimed to assess the preparedness and readiness of the facility in light of the ongoing tense situation between India and Pakistan.
The committee was attended by distinguished officers including DDA Mr. Pankaj Rai, HOD Orthopaedics Dr. Vijay Goni, HOD Internal Medicine Dr. Sanjay Jain, HOD Neurosurgery Dr. SK Gupta, HOD Plastic Surgery Dr. Atul Parashar, Nodal Officer ATC Dr. Vishal Kumar, HOD Neuroanaesthesia Dr. Nidhi Panda, HOD Anaesthesia Dr. Kajal Jain, Nodal Officer Orthopaedic Trauma Dr. Sandeep Patel, Dr. Sameer Aggarwal, SHE Col Bhatti, and Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Vipin Kaushal.

During the rounds, the team reviewed the current preparations for managing patient influx amid the prevailing tense international scenario.

Discussions focused on bed availability, ICU facilities, ventilators, essential drugs, implants, and blood bank capacity. Standing instructions were issued by the Director to ensure optimal readiness of the centre to serve human life under any adverse circumstances.

Prof. Vivek Lal , Director PGIMER emphasized, “PGIMER remains Vij committed to safeguarding human lives and is fully prepared to respond effectively to any emergency, regardless of the challenges we face.”

A medical team from PGIMER Chandigarh has been deputed to Jammu & Kashmir for national duty. The team includes Dr. Amit Sharma and Dr. Sachin from Anesthesia; Dr. Swapnesh Sahu and Dr. Gokul Krishan Hari from General/Vascular Surgery; Dr. Himanshu Kanwar and Dr. Udit K Jayant from Orthopedics; Dr. Mahesh and Dr. Sachin C. Nair from Plastic Surgery. Nursing Officers Mr. Narinder Tyagi and Mr. Ramesh Kumar will assist in patient care. Transport support will be provided by Sh. Shiv Nath, Sh. Pradeep Kumar (II), and Sh. Lakhvir Singh. The team will report to Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal-cum-Dean, GMC Jammu.
