One arrested for consuming liquor at public place

Chandigarh Police arrested Umesh Thakur, R/o Sector 21, Panchkula (HR), Age 34 years while he was consuming liquor at a public place and creating nuisance near Booth No. 17, NAC, Manimajra, Chandigarh on 16-07-2023. A case FIR No. 74, U/s 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC has been registered in PS-MM, Chandigarh. Later, he was bailed out.

Action against illicit liquor

Chandigarh Police arrested Anil Kumar R/o Jhuggi No. D-48, Adarsh Colony, Sector-54, Chandigarh (Age-32 years) and recovered 99 quarters of country made liquor from his possession in Auto No. PB-65AU-7748 near Taxi Stand, Slip Road, Sector 54, Chandigarh on 16.07.2023. A case FIR No. 118, U/S 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Later, he was bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Three arrested for MV theft

Surinder Singh R/o # 8, Khudda Lahora, Chandigarh alleged that Makhan Singh R/o Village Mahlewala Distt. Firozpur PB. Age 22 Years, Gurwinder Singh R/o same Age 24 Years and Gurjant Singh R/o Village Lehalla Distt. Firozpur PB Age 18 Years were caught red handed while stealing complainant's motor cycle No. CH01AG8359 on the night intervening 15/16-07-2023. A case FIR No. 59, U/S 380, 411, 34 IPC has been registered in PS-Sarangpur, Chandigarh. Alleged persons have been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Abetment to suicide

A case FIR No. 118, U/S 306 IPC has been registered in PS-11, Chandigarh on the complaint of Suresh Chand R/o # 300/80, Adarsh Nagar, Nayagaon, Mohali (PB) who alleged that Harmesh Dhiman R/o Village Syunk, Distt Mohali, (PB), Sanjay, Rajesh & Surender Khurana abetted complainant’s nephew Kehar Singh to commit suicide at H.No. 2270/A, 1st floor, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 15.07.2023. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 119, U/S 419, 420 IPC has been registered in PS-11, Chandigarh on the complaint of Sarita Thakur, Superintendent, GMHS, Sector-11, Chandigarh who reported that Abhidh R/o Patti Chaudhran Badot, Distt. Bhagpat (UP) was caught while attempting exam of CTU Heavy driver recruitment in place of candidate Sunil R/o Village-Thilor, Tehsil Tosham, Distt- Bhiwani (HR) at Govt. Model High School, Sector 11, Chandigarh on 16.07.2023. Alleged persons Abhidh (Age 25 Years) has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 120, U/S 419, 420, 120B IPC has been registered in PS-11, Chandigarh on the complaint of Dr. Benudhar Patra, Superintendent, PGGC, Sector-11, Chandigarh who reported that Balinder Singh R/o Kasan Distt- Kaithal (HR) was caught while attempting exam of CTU Heavy driver recruitment in place of candidate Praveen Kumar R/o Village Jakhouli Kaman Patti, Kaithal (HR) at Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector 11, Chandigarh on 16.07.2023. Alleged persons Balinder Singh has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 58, U/S 419, 420, 120B IPC has been registered in PS-19, Chandigarh on the complaint of Rajinder Singh, Superintendent, GMHS Sector-20/D, Chandigarh who reported that Sandeep R/o Village-Hamupur, Distt-Rohtak (HR) was caught while attempting exam of CTU recruitment in place of candidate Namit at Govt. Model High School, Sector-20/D, Chandigarh on 16.07.2023. Alleged persons Sandeep (Age 26 years) has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 117, U/S 406, 419, 420, 120B IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh on the complaint of Dinesh Kumar, Superintendent, GMHS Sector-38/D, Chandigarh who reported that Munish @ Manish R/o VPO Kheri, Barsana Distt- Kaithal (HR) was caught while attempting exam of CTU Bus Conductor recruitment in place of candidate Abhishek R/o # 244 VPO Balran Gran, Karnal (HR) at Govt. Model High School, Sector-38/0044, Chandigarh on 16.07.2023. Alleged persons Munish @ Manish (Age 28 years) has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 57, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-19, Chandigarh on the complaint of Vol. Dimpal Khan 1180/CHG against driver of car No. HR-03T-2428 namely Vineet R/o # 67, Gali No. 2, Nehru Garden, Distt- Kaithal (HR) Age 23 Years who rashly & negligently hit complainant at Naka Point at Sec-18/21 dividing road, Chandigarh on 16.07.2023. No. 2089 Sector-23C, Chandigarh Age-30 Yrs, in case E-FIR No. 215 Dated 24.03.2023 U/s 379 IPC PS-17, Chandigarh and accused (2) Sarfudin @ Samir @ mulla S/O Jamaludin R/O # 1902/C, Small Flate Colony Dhanas UT,Chandigarh age 19 years arrest in Case FIR no. 174/2023 U/S 379 IPC PS 17,UT,Chandigarh, respectively.

No.1213,sector 64, Phase 10, Mohali in which he stated that today he came to Sector-22 Chandigarh for some work and he parked his Royal Enfield M/C No. HP29C2729 in front of SCO No. 743-744 Sector-22, Chandigarh when he went back to take his Motor Cycle then he found that an Unknown person has stolen his Motor Cycle.

(2) A case E-FIR No. 174 dated 06.03.2023 U/S 379 IPC PS 17,UT,Chandigarh was registered Anil (S/O) Devi Gulam R/o #188 Bhullar Enclave Jhampur Mohali [Mobile Number: 9569712223) regarding theft of ACtiva SCOOTER no. CH01AA2694 Engine No. ME4JC446M98063008 Chassis No JC44E0405314 Colour- BLACK has been stolen from Outside Govt School Sector 23 Chandigarh between 07:00 and 09:30 on 26/02/2023.

During investigation, accused Dalip Singh Gusai S/o Lt. Partap Singh R/o H. No. 2089 Sector-23C, Chandigarh Age-30 Yrs and Sarfudin @ Samir @ mulla S/O Jamaludin R/O # 1902/C, Small Flate Colony Dhanas UT,Chandigarh age 19 years have been arrested and stolen case property also recovered from the possession of accused.

On 17.07.2023, a nationwide drive of seized drug disposal was online organized by N.C.B (Narcotics Control Bureau) from New Delhi and was chaired by Sh. Amit Shah, Hon’ble Home Minister of India.

Hon’ble Governor Punjab and Administrator, Chandigarh, Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit alongwith Sh. Praveer Ranjan, DGP, Chandigarh joined this drug disposal drive online from Raj Bhawan Punjab.

On this drug disposal drive occasion, today Drug Disposal Committee (DDC) of Chandigarh Police comprising of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, HQ & Crime-cum-Chairman, Mrs. Meera Kumari Meena, Superintendent, NCB, Chandigarh and Sh. Udaypal Singh, DSP Crime as members has disposed-off the seized contraband/drugs of 64 NDPS Act cases of 08 Police Stations of Chandigarh Police consisting of large quantity of Heroin, Poppy Husk, Charas, Capsules, Ganja, Ice, Injections. The drug disposal committee conducted pre-drug disposal meeting on 14.07.2023 and the documents, weight, seals etc of 64 NDPS cases of 08 police stations were physically checked and found these drugs suitable for disposal.

The drugs were disposed-off as per laid procedure at Punjab Chemical Corporation Limited, Dera Bassi, District-SAS Nagar, Punjab, through incinerator installed in the plant. The name and quantity of drugs which were disposed of during this process is as under:-
