Chandigarh 08.03.2023-To commemorate World Health Day, NSS Open Unit, U.T. Chandigarh launched it awareness Campaign under the moto "Health For All and Say No To Drugs" with more than 40 NSS volunteers. The campaign was supposed by Sarangpur Police Station for the safety of volunteers. In the presence of JAAC member; Dr. Arun Bansal and Unit Coordinator Ms. Ritika Verma campaign begin with door to door awareness visit on drug abuse focused on the health and mental issues caused by its consumption. People admitted that drugs not only badly affects the consumer but impacts whole family and community. Team Leader Abhi and Neelakshi, NSS volunteers reported that during the door to door awareness in Dhanas colony they observed atleast one member in every family used to take drugs due to several reasons. In order to raise Anti-drug awareness, volunteers discussed the issue of Drug addiction and suggessted the solution to start with Fit India campaign at own.
Unit Coordinator Ms. Ritika awared community, how de-addiction centres are helping drug addicts which are open for all under the government initiative. Reviewing the Dhanas situation, NSS Programme Officer Er. Binesh Bhatia said NSS Open Unit will come up with more awareness activities like Wall Painting and Nukkad Nataks for community awareness in coming weeks. Sarangpur Police Station thanked and congratulated NSS Open Unit, State NSS Cell, UT Chandigarh for this well appreciated initiative and offered max. support for this noble cause.
