Chandigarh/Ludhiana, Oct 22-Cabinet Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Wednesday stated that Lord Vishwakarma Ji is credited with the creation of Craft, Architecture, and Engineering on our planet.

Addressing a state level function at Lord Vishwakarma Mandir, Ludhiana to observe Vishwakarma Day, Sond mentioned that the global industrial and infrastructure development is a direct result of Lord Vishwakarma's blessings.

The Minister further explained that the Punjab government is focusing on skill development for the youth throughout the state, aiming to enable them to lead lives of dignity and self-respect, in line with Lord Vishwakarma's principles and teachings. Lord Vishwakarma is revered as the supreme architect of the universe, known as the Master of all machinery and tools used in industrial processes.

Encouraging the public to emulate Lord Vishwakarma's teachings, Sond stated that supporting skill development across the state will be a fitting homage to the Lord Vishwakarma.

The Minister also outlined the transformative government's initiatives in education and health, ensuring accessible, high-quality services for all. He noted that 55,000 government jobs have been transparently given to Punjab’s youth, 90% of residents receive zero electricity bills, and all 13,246 villages in Punjab will soon have access to 3,100 top-class playgrounds within the next six months. Sond also praised Punjab’s significant contributions to national security, stating that despite comprising just 1.5% of India’s population, the state leads in sacrifices for the country’s safety. Additionally, he highlighted the success of the anti-drug campaign Yudh Nasha Virudh.

MLAs Ashok Parashar Pappi, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Madan Lal Bagga and Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur also extended greetings to the people on Vishwakarma Day.

Mandir Committee president Ranjit Kumar Salh urged the state government to assist the managing committee in completing the pending civil works of the Mandir building by releasing required funds on which Sond announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the temple and assured fulsome support in completing the pending civil works. He also distributed sewing machines among needy women.

On this occasion, the Minister also honoured several prominent industrialists namely Charanjit Singh Vishwakarma, Inderjit Singh Sohal, Amarjit Singh, Rajinder Singh Sarhali, Ranjit Singh Matharu, Ashok Kanda, Surjit Kanda, Surjit Singh, Karun Arora and others.

Punjab CM, Cabinet Ministers and Senior Officers to Pay Obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Sis Ganj Sahib on October 25: Sond

- The series of commemorative events to begin with Ardas at Gurdwara Sri Sis Ganj Sahib, New Delhi

Chandigarh, October 22:Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond today informed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is organizing a series of grand events to mark the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru who made the supreme sacrifice for the protection of faith and human values.

Sond said that the commemorative events will commence on October 25 with an Ardas (prayer) at the historic Gurdwara Sri Sis Ganj Sahib in New Delhi. On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, all Cabinet Ministers, and senior officers of the Punjab Government will pay obeisance at the Gurudwara Sahib.

He further shared that the Chief Minister will also visit the martyrdom sites of Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji to pay floral tributes and honour their unparalleled sacrifices.

The Minister added that on the evening of October 25, a grand Kirtan Darbar will be organized at Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib, New Delhi. Throughout the month, the Punjab Government will hold several large-scale programs aimed at spreading the message, teachings, and philosophy of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to the masses.

Highlighting the state’s initiatives to preserve Sikh heritage, Sond said that on this historic occasion, the Punjab Government has also launched major projects for the revitalization of Sri Anandpur Sahib, the sacred birthplace of the Khalsa. Recently, a memorial dedicated to Bhai Jaita Ji has been inaugurated, featuring five thematic galleries depicting his historical contribution and sacrifice. The memorial spans five acres, with a covered area of about two acres and a constructed space of 3,200 square feet.

Sond further informed that as part of the 350th martyrdom commemorations, four Nagar Kirtans will be organized from November 19 to 22, starting from Srinagar, symbolizing the spiritual journey and legacy of Guru Sahib’s message of peace and humanity.

Punjab Cabinet Ministers Invite Assam CM to 350th Martyrdom Anniversary Events of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji

Chandigarh/Guwahati, October 22-A delegation from the Punjab government, led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, in Wednesday met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati to extend a formal invitation for the upcoming events commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji (Shaheedi Purab).

The high-level meeting underscored the spirit of national unity and shared reverence for the sacrifices made by the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, who is widely revered as 'Hind Di Chadar' for his selfless sacrifice to protect religious freedom and human rights.

Extending a Historic Invitation, the Cabinet Ministers Cheema and Kataruchak personally handed over the invitation to the Chief Minister Sarma, outlining the series of grand commemorative events being organized by the Punjab Government. These events are scheduled to take place at various historically significant locations, with the primary focus on celebrating the life, teachings, and unparalleled sacrifice of the Guru.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema highlighted the universal significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji's martyrdom. "The sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji transcends religious boundaries. It is a powerful lesson in defending human rights and the freedom of conscience," said Cheema. "By inviting Chief Minister Sarma, we aim to ensure that this historic occasion is marked with national participation, reflecting the Guru's message of inclusive brotherhood and courage."

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak emphasized the spiritual connection shared across states. "Assam, too, holds a deep respect for the Sikh Gurus, and we believe the Chief Minister Sarma's presence will further strengthen the cultural and historical bonds between Punjab and Assam," he added.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma warmly received the Punjab delegation and expressed his profound respect for Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. He assured the ministers that the Assam Government acknowledges the monumental contribution of the Guru to India's cultural and spiritual heritage.

While accepting the invitation, CM Sarma conveyed his best wishes for the success of the commemorative programs and affirmed that his government would explore all possibilities for participation, acknowledging the special place the Guru holds in the national conscience.

Paddy procurement season 2025

Over 4.32 lakh farmers benefitted from Minimum Support Price so far

Patiala on top followed by flood ravaged Tarn Taran

Chandigarh, October 22:Leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth paddy procurement season, the pro active approach of the Punjab Government led by the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has led to 4,32,458 Lakh farmers being benefitted from the Minimum Support Price (MSP) till October 21st,

Under the guidance of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, the procurement, lifting and payments are going on in full swing. The Patiala District so far leads the way with 57546 farmers deriving the benefit of MSP. The flood ravaged Tarn Taran comes second with 38578 farmers getting the benefit and Ferozepur with 35501 farmers occupies third spot so far.

As regarding the arrival, a total of 5840618.72 MT of paddy has reached the mandis throughout the State till October 21st evening. Out of this, 5604976.76 MT stands procured and the figure touches 95 percent. The total lifting figure is 3985173.28 MT making the lifting touch 71 percent mark of the total procured crop so far.
