Chandigarh, October 14 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday dedicated an electric bus service to the citizens of Kurukshetra by flagging off 10 e-buses. The Chief Minister, along with former Minister, Sh. Subhash Sudha, travelled in an e-bus from Jyotisar to Kurukshetra University. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that citizens will be able to travel free of cost in these e-buses till Diwali.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a programme organised by the Haryana State Transport Department at Jyotisar.
The Chief Minister said that these e-buses will operate on different routes, benefiting not only local residents but also tourists from across the country and abroad. During major events like the International Gita Mahotsav, Surya Grahan Mela etc. pilgrims and tourists will be able to use this e-bus service. He said that the State Transport Department of Haryana has decided to run eco-friendly electric bus services under the Government of India’s National Electric Mobility Mission 2020 in Haryana and its neighboring states.
The Chief Minister further said that to strengthen public transport services, the government has decided to purchase 50 electric buses each for 10 municipal corporations — Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Hisar, Gurugram, and Faridabad — totaling 500 buses. Besides this, Rewari will receive 50 buses due to its proximity to Delhi, Gurugram, and nearby suburban areas. Under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model, the department has decided to purchase 375 standard-floor 12-meter air-conditioned e-buses.
The Chief Minister said that electric bus services have already been launched in Panipat, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panchkula, Hisar, Rohtak, Rewari, and Sonipat (five each), and in Ambala (ten buses). Now, ahead of the auspicious festival of Diwali, this eco-friendly city bus service has been introduced in Kurukshetra for devotees and pilgrims. He described it as a major milestone for the state government, marking Haryana as one of the first states in the country to implement such a unique project. This city bus service will not only benefit residents of Kurukshetra but will also ensure zero air and noise pollution. Separate city bus depots are being constructed in all 10 cities to support the operation of these 375 buses, with the Panipat depot already completed and the Yamunanagar depot nearing completion, he added.
Director General, Department of State transport, Sh. Sujan Singh, said that four routes have been identified for these buses, covering Jyotisar, Pehowa, Shahabad, and Ismailabad. Two buses will operate between Pipli and Jyotisar. The routes have been finalized jointly by the district administration and the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB). He said that this service will make travel much more convenient for citizens. Earlier, the e-bus service has already been successfully launched in nine districts.

Chandigarh, October 14 — Haryana Co-operation, Heritage, and Tourism Minister, Dr. Arvind Sharma, has proposed the inclusion of Dhosi Hill and Narnaul in district Mahendragarh on the global tourism map under Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of “One State–One Global Destination.” He said that if the Ministry of Tourism develops the historic and culturally rich Mahendragarh–Narnaul region, it would offer both domestic and international tourists an exceptional travel experience.
Dr. Sharma said that developing this picturesque location in the Aravalli mountain range would turn South Haryana into a hub for adventure, heritage, naturopathy, and sports-based activities, generating far-reaching social, economic, trade, and tourism benefits.
On Tuesday, Dr. Arvind Sharma represented Haryana at the two-day meeting of State Tourism Ministers organized by the Ministry of Tourism in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The meeting, chaired by Union Tourism Minister, Sh. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, focused on developing 50 top tourist destinations across India in line with the Union Budget’s vision.
Representing Haryana, Dr. Sharma emphasized that under the “One State–One Global Destination” initiative, Dhosi Hill and the heritage city of Narnaul should be developed as global tourist destinations. He said that showcasing Dhosi Hill and Narnaul’s architectural treasures—stepwells, tombs, and palaces—on the world tourism map is the need of the hour.
He added that this region, located in the Aravalli range and within the National Capital Region (NCR), has immense potential to become a global tourism corridor while also fostering growth for micro and small industries, local business units, and entrepreneurs. The Haryana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, is fully prepared to move forward with this vision.
Dr. Sharma also proposed developing Faridabad as a business tourism hub.There is a need to expand opportunities for meetings, conferences, and exhibitions amidst the beauty and natural landscape of the Aravalli Mountains in areas like Gurugram, Faridabad, Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, he added.
During the national meeting, Dr. Arvind Sharma invited the tourism ministers of all participating states to attend the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra from November 15 and the 39th International Crafts Mela in Faridabad in February. He also presented a souvenir based on Haryana’s historical heritage, published by the Department of Archaeology, to Union Tourism Minister, Sh. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and other tourism ministers from various states and Union Territories.

When daughters are educated, the entire family, society, and nation move forward, with this aim Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi launched the nationwide ‘Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao’ campaign. Institutions like Seth Navrang Rai Lohia Jairam Girls College are carrying forward this vision of the Prime Minister, he added.
The Chief Minister was addressing the silver jubilee celebration of Seth Navrang Rai Lohia Jairam Girls College, Lohar Majra, Kurukshetra as the Chief Guest on Tuesday. Earlier, he inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. On this occasion, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries released a souvenir highlighting the 25-year journey of the Jairam Educational Institutions. Chairman, Jairam Educational Institutions, Pujya Brahmaswaroop Brahmachari Maharaj, felicitated the Chief Minister by presenting him a memento and a shawl. During the programme, the Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs. 21 lakh for the institution.
The Chief Minister said that the college has been serving as a temple of learning for the past 25 years, dedicated to educating and empowering girls from rural areas. The 25-year journey of this institution is not merely a number but a story of struggle, dedication, and success. He said that inspired by the late Pujya Devender Swaroop Brahmachari, the late Mohan Lal Lohia had established this college in memory of his father. At that time, awareness about girls’ education in villages was minimal. Today, this college has become the foundation of a bright future for thousands of girls from nearby rural regions.
The students of this college have excelled not only in academics but also in sports, cultural activities, social service, and research. The girls who studied here are now making a mark at national and international levels. Institutions like Seth Navrang Rai Lohia Jairam Girls College are the true heritage of Haryana, contributing to the creation of a developed and progressive state.
*80 new government colleges established in 11 Years, Including 30 for Girls*
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the government has ensured that a college is available within a 20 km radius so that no girl is deprived of higher education because of distance. In the past 11 years, 80 new government colleges have been established in the state, out of which 30 are exclusively for girls. To facilitate their commute, the government provides free travel for girl students up to 150 km in Haryana Roadways buses. 29 government women ITIs are functioning in the state to promote technical education among girls, where each girl student is given a monthly stipend of Rs. 500. Haryana was also the first state to implement the National Education Policy, he added.
*33 percent reservation for women in post graduate teacher recruitment*
The Chief Minister further said that to ensure poverty does not hinder girls’ education, the government provides free education up to the postgraduate level to daughters of families with an annual income of up to Rs. 1.8 lakh. Moreover, 33 percent reservation has been granted to women in the recruitment of Post Graduate Teachers (PGT). He said that Haryana, once counted among states with a low sex ratio, has not only overcome this stigma but has also set an example for other states as well. As a result of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, the sex ratio at birth in Haryana has improved from 871 in 2014 to 909 today.
He further said that in almost every examination, girls consistently outperform boys. Whether in administration, police, defence services, research, or space, girls have achieved remarkable success. Their selection rate in various entrance examinations continues to rise. From politics, writing, sports, films, fashion, music, and literature to business, medicine, social work, and the judiciary—girls are excelling in every field, proving that daughters are not a burden but a strength to society.

Chandigarh, October 14- Haryana Energy Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the problem of power supply interruptions caused by tree branches touching electric lines will now be resolved. A large-scale campaign will be launched across the state to cut and trim trees so that strong winds or tall tree branches do not disrupt the electricity supply. Sh. Vij said this campaign will be conducted throughout Haryana, and all concerned officers must run it extensively in their respective areas.
Sh. Vij emphasized, no leniency will be tolerated in electricity theft; electricity bills must be paid; free electricity will not be provided.
Sh. Vij was presiding over a review meeting of the Energy Department officers today at the UT Guest House in Chandigarh. Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Sh. Apoorva Kumar Singh, along with other officers, were present in the meeting.

Additionally, he directed officers to replace all overloaded transformers and upgrade overloaded conductors. Departmental officers informed him that work on this is already underway and will soon be completed in the remaining areas. Sh. Vij further said that although power companies have reduced line losses, more efforts are needed to reduce further to ensure high-quality power supply to consumers.
*Adequate maintenance staff must be deployed and safety equipments must be used” – Vij*
He also directed officers to maintain a separate bank of transformers so that faulty ones can be replaced immediately. The minister said that adequate maintenance staff must be deployed since staff shortages often delay power restoration. Sh. Vij emphasized that maintenance personnel must have complete safety equipment to avoid accidents while repairing supply lines. He warned that no maintenance staff should climb poles without safety gear. All complaint centers must function properly and that call center numbers and contact information should be clearly displayed at all power offices for public convenience.

The minister gave special directions to officers that thai festive season, especially on Diwali, senior officers must ensure that there is no power outage on Diwali day.”
*Substations and powerhouses that are below ground level should be raised before the next monsoon season – Vij*
To prevent flooding, Sh. Vij directed offciers to raise all substations and powerhouses that are prone to waterlogging before the next monsoon season. New substations should also be built on elevated ground. During the meeting, he also reviewed the progress of the Mhara Gaon–Jagmag Gaon scheme and issued necessary directions.
*Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam recovers Rs. 492.57 crore*
The minister was informed that between April 16, 2025, and September 30, 2025, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam recovered Rs. 492.57 crore from defaulting consumers. The recoveries include Rs.18.64 crore from Panchkula, Rs. 23.89 crore from Ambala, Rs.117.05 crore from Yamunanagar, Rs. 23.21 crore from Kurukshetra, Rs. 46.21 crore from Kaithal, Rs.32.37 crore from Karnal, Rs. 73.93 crore from Panipat, Rs.54.84 crore from Sonipat, Rs. 57.12 crore from Rohtak, and Rs. 45.31 crore from Jhajjar. Similarly, between April 16, 2025, and September 30, 2025, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam recovered Rs. 489.65 crore, including Rs. 22.99 crore from Gurugram-2, Rs.5.81 crore from Gurugram-1, Rs. 42.49 crore from Faridabad, Rs.102.24 crore from Palwal, Rs. 28.77 crore from Narnaul, Rs. 12.82 crore from Rewari, Rs.50.82 crore from Bhiwani, Rs. 97.36 crore from Hisar, Rs. 41.86 crore from Fatehabad, Rs. 29.14 crore from Sirsa, and Rs. 55.35 crore from Jind.
Sh. Vij further directed officers to take strict action against defaulter consumers and recover dues promptly; otherwise, legal action will be taken. He instructed officers to meet with village sarpanches in areas where electricity theft is widespread and recoveries are pending, to ensure cooperation in collections. A comprehensive campaign for recovery will be launched in such villages, involving deputy commissioners and senior district officers. Sh. Vij said he will personally monitor the recovery progress.He directed officers to prepare a detailed action plan to curb electricity theft and to take strict legal action against offenders.

*10 services of two departments now under ambit of Right to Service Act*
Chandigarh, October 14 – The Haryana Government has brought 9 services of the Haryana Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (HSFDC) within the ambit of the Right to Service Act, 2014, ensuring a defined timeline for their delivery.
According to the notification issued by Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi, the prescribed time limits under the NSFDC schemes are 135 days for the Education Loan and Micro Finance Schemes, and 180 days for the Term Loan Scheme.
Under the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC), the covered services include the Education Loan Scheme, Mahila Adhikarita Yojana, Mahila Samridhi Yojana, Micro Credit Finance Scheme and the Green Business Scheme, all with a time limit of 135 days. For the General Term Loan Scheme, the time limit is 180 days.
For all the above schemes, the District Manager of the concerned district has been designated as the officer responsible for service delivery. The Senior Accounts Officer, HSFDC, has been designated as the First Grievance Redressal Authority, while the Managing Director, HSFDC, will function as the Second Grievance Redressal Authority. This structured grievance redressal mechanism has been introduced to ensure that citizens receive timely services and have an effective avenue for addressing grievances in case of delays or issues.
In addition, one service of the Fisheries Department has also been brought under the ambit of the Right to Service Act. The Subsidy of Renovation of Ponds must be provided with 40 days.
