“Special on Hindi Diwas… Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij highlighted the importance of Hindi.”

“In the mother tongue lies affection, and in it resides a mother’s blessings” – Haryana Energy, Transport & Labour Minister Anil Vij

Chandigarh, August 15- “Who says one cannot progress by learning in the mother tongue? We too can move forward by studying in our own language, Hindi, because the mother tongue brings us love, affection, and blessings.”

These were the words expressed by Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Anil Vij, during a program held to mark the occasion of Hindi Diwas.

Speaking candidly, Sh. Vij said that sadly, today many feel a sense of inferiority when speaking Hindi. For years, generations were taught Arabic and English, and over time, English has come to be seen as a status symbol in our own country. “But English is not our language; it is a borrowed tongue. Speaking it is wrongly equated with belonging to a higher class of society, while in reality, Hindi is our own language. It instills values, evokes a sense of belonging, and connects us deeply with our culture,” he added.

The audience listened intently as the Minister questioned, “Is it not strange that in India—the birthplace of Hindi—we feel the need to ‘promote’ it by celebrating Hindi Diwas? Should this really be necessary in its own homeland? Foreign influences made us believe that English is the superior language, but this is far from the truth.”

Citing global examples, Sh. Vij pointed out, “In Paris, you cannot put up a shop board in English—French is mandatory. France has advanced through French, China through Chinese, and Germany through German. German scientists and engineers-built submarines and aircrafts, mastering innovation in their own tongue. Japan too, devastated after World War II, rose again not through a foreign language, but through Japanese. The progress of these nations shows that a country’s true development lies in its own language.”

Highlighting the value of the mother tongue, he said, “When we say mother tongue, it carries with it the blessings of a mother. It is easy to understand, easy to express, and deeply rooted in our culture. But unfortunately, colonial rulers undermined this connection. Lord Macaulay, after visiting India, admitted before the British Parliament that he never saw an Indian begging or starving. He acknowledged India’s rich culture and wisdom, but also warned that unless that culture was attacked—through education and language—the British could not rule for long. It was then that our education system and language were deliberately weakened. Our traditional gurukul system imparted both knowledge and values, teaching respect for elders and family. Today’s education, however, is confined to bookish learning, detached from cultural roots.”

Sh. Vij lamented how English has dominated Indian minds. “If German doctors can perform surgery after studying in German, and French engineers can build ships after studying in French, why can’t we achieve the same in Hindi? Why can’t we build world-class ships, planes, or innovations if engineering and medical textbooks are written in Hindi? We can progress in our mother tongue.”

The Minister said, “We must not limit ourselves to observing Hindi Diwas as a symbolic duty. Hindi must be woven into our daily lives. The coming generations must be nurtured with pride in their mother tongue, with respect for its culture and heritage. Only then will we achieve the true upliftment of our nation.”

“Rahul Gandhi arrived too late – the water had already come and gone”- Energy Minister Anil Vij

“Congress has no faith in India’s democratic institutions” – Vij

“Thanks to Supreme Court on Waqf Bill, digitization of properties will bring solutions” – Vij

“Now India has defeated Pakistan even on the cricket field” – Vij

Chandigarh, September 15: Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij, took a sharp dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today, remarking, “Rahul Gandhi arrived too late. By the time he came, the floodwaters had already risen and receded. When people were drowning in water, his helping hand was nowhere to be seen. Now, after the water has subsided, he has come only to make a political appearance and say, ‘I too was there.’”

Sh.Vij was responding to media questions in Chandigarh regarding Rahul Gandhi’s visit to flood-affected areas of Punjab.

“Congress has no trust in India’s democratic institutions” – Vij

When asked about Congress’ signature campaign, Vij commented that “The Congress Party has no faith in the country’s democratic institutions. It seems there is a tacit consensus among some of its leaders to discredit and harass every such institution. Congress leaders routinely question the actions of ED and CBI, and even pass judgments on court rulings. The Election Commission follows its own due process—electoral rolls are revised, errors are corrected, and provisions exist to rectify discrepancies within a month. The real issue is not procedural errors; the Congress’ problem is simply that they are not getting votes. And no one can fix that grievance for them.”

“Thanks to Supreme Court on Waqf Bill – digitization of properties will resolve disputes” – Vij

On being asked about the Supreme Court’s refusal to stay the Waqf Amendment Bill, Vij expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Court. He said that “Everyone should respect the decision of the Supreme Court. Property registration is now taking place through an online portal. This digitization will resolve many longstanding disputes, as it will clearly record who holds which property, since when, and under what authority. With this data available online, matters will become much easier to manage.”

“India defeats Pakistan on the cricket field as well” – Vij

Commenting on India’s victory over Pakistan in cricket, Vij jubilantly said, “Once again, India has struck Pakistan—this time on the cricket field. We have beaten them again and again, and now even in cricket, India has triumphed.”
