Chandigarh February 7, 2024-The 13^th Panjab University Rose Festival will be inaugurated by Prof. RenuVig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University on 9^th February, 2024. A three-day affair, Panjab University Rose Festival will have Flower Competition on the first day. During evening, on the first day, Mr. and Ms. Rose Competition and performance by JagjitWadali will be held during the evening.

On the second day, Rangoli and Painting competitions will be held. The evening will see performances by Rock Band “Parwaaz” and Punjabi Singer Bhav Sidhu. On third day, Rose Prince & Princess Competition will take place during the day and crowning ceremony will be held after the competition. In the evening, there will be performance by Punjabi Singer RazaHeer. On all the three days of the festival, HimachaliNatiprogramme will be held during the evening.

The competitions are seeing good response. More than 500 entries have been received for competitions, both in offline and online mode.Those interested to participate in the competitions can apply offline at Single Window Enquiry, Panjab University and can also apply online on website www.purosefestival.com.

Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden spread over an area of 2.5 acre, has been given a facelift for the Festival. The entrance gates have been beautified and hedges have been better designed. More than 150 varieties of Rose plants are adorning the garden. 15 new varieties namely Pink Promise, Tropical Sunset, Royal Amethyst, Rangotsav, Eddy Mitchell etc.have been added this year.

Several stalls to create awareness among masses on various issues like environment, blood donation, legal assistance etc. will be put up at 13^thPanjab University Rose Festival by ENACTUS, Deptt. of Environment Sciences, Panjab University; State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, Govt. Home Science College, Chandigarh, ManavKalyanParisar, Natural Biodiversity etc.

There will be performances of Folk Artists, Nachhar, Stick Walkers etc., during the 13^thPanjab University Rose Festival, arranged by North Zone Cultural Centre.
