SHIMLA, 29.04.26-The Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Officers Association has taken note of certain reports, social media posts, and unverified materials presently circulating in the public domain concerning allegations against an officer of the cadre, serving in district Solan. At the outset, the Association reiterates that accountability, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law are foundational principles of public service, and any credible allegation against a public servant must be examined fairly, and in accordance with law.At the same time, the Association expresses serious concern over the increasing tendency of circulation of unverified allegations, selectively shared documents, and speculative narratives through social media platforms and certain media channels, often without authentication or due verification. Such practices risk causing irreversible mental stress to dedicated officers, and affect the morale and reputation of public institutions adversely, while also undermining the principles of natural justice and due process. The Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service has, over the decades, served the State with distinction through generations of committed officers drawn from the soil of Himachal Pradesh, who have worked tirelessly in difficult terrains and challenging circumstances to uphold public welfare, administrative integrity, and responsive governance. The Association takes immense pride in the contribution of these officers, who continue to discharge their duties with dedication, often under pressures from interest groups, intense public scrutiny, and in highly sensitive assignments. The Association respectfully appeals to all media organisations, digital platforms, and members of the public to exercise restraint and due diligence while reporting or sharing material relating to pending or unverified allegations. The Association also calls upon responsible citizens and media to keep in mind, that officers in sensitive regulatory functions are often targets of interest groups, and that attempts are sometimes made to influence public perception through selective or unverified information, to undermine their credibility and divert public attention. The Association further emphasizes that honest and hardworking officers, particularly those discharging sensitive statutory and regulatory responsibilities, must be allowed to function fearlessly and independently within the framework of law, without being subjected to motivated targeting and premature conclusions, based on unverified reports. Public discourse on sensitive matters involving public institutions and officers must remain guided by facts, fairness, and legal process, rather than conjecture or social media amplification.
The Association also acknowledges the restraint and responsibility shown by many media organisations and citizens in ensuring that public discourse remains balanced and fact-based. Most importantly, the Association has full faith that the competent authorities shall deal with the matter in a fair, objective, and lawful manner, and that any conclusions shall emerge only through due process and proper verification.
Issued in the interest of institutional integrity, responsible public discourse, and the preservation of due process under law.
