Chandigarh, February 05: Five cadets from No.1 Chandigarh NCC Air Squadron including three girls have represented the city beautiful in the national-level Republic Day camp in New Delhi.

The cadets who brought laurals to the city beautiful are Cadet Aditi, Cadet Paras Sharma and Cadet Rohit Rangra from Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11 and Cadet Tanu Jarwal & Cadet Gunjan from DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The cadets were handpicked at the inter-group competitions held during various camps conducted at the NCC academy in Ropar over a period of three months. They competed in a host of competitions with other cadets as well as for the selection for the NCC marching contingent at Rajpath on January 26 and for the Guard of Honor at the Prime Minister’s rally.

Cadet Aditi has been selected as “All India Second Best Airwing Girl Cadet at National level” while Tanu Jarwal was selected as Guard Commander to command and present Guard of Honour to Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria, Chief of Air Staff, Cadet Paras and Cadet Gunjan represented in Cultural Competition. Cadet Rohit Rangra participated in Squad drill, said Group Captain M R Pandeya Commanding Officer NCC Air wing Chandigarh.

The aim of the Republic Day Camp, is to provide an exposure, to the rich culture and traditions of our nation, through important events that take place in the National Capital during the run up to the Republic Day, as well as to enhance the personal traits of the cadets by strengthening their value system. Said Pandeya. Cadets attending the camp, participate in a number of activities like cultural competitions, National Integration Awareness Programme and various Institutional Training Competitions. This varied and demanding array of activities culminates with the Prime Minister's rally on January 28, 2020.
