He listened to the grievances of the people and directed the officials to ensure their prompt resolution.
Dressed in traditional attire, the local residents accorded a warm welcome to the Chief Minister upon his arrival in Mehla gram panchayat, accompanied by the melodies of traditional hill folk tunes. It proved to be a memorable evening for them, as it was for the first time a Chief Minister stayed overnight in this remote region, taking the opportunity to learn about their problems and challenges. He also enjoyed the local delicacies offered by the residents.
‘Visits to the remote villages and overnight stay are aimed at gaining first-hand insight into the challenges being faced by local residents and understanding their concerns,’ said the Chief Minister while interacting with the villagers.
Sh. Sukhu said that ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ was a flagship programme of the state government, with resolution of public grievances being its top priority. The government was committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last person in society. He stated that the state government was fully committed to ensuring that development reaches the most remote and hilly communities.
‘This is a unique initiative to understand the sentiments and problems of people by staying overnight in remote areas. It is the first time that a Chief Minister of the state has gone beyond the confines of government rest houses and stayed overnight in a village home to interact directly with the people’, he said.
He said that 172 families of Mehla gram panchayat had been identified under the Mukhya Mantri Ka Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana, which is scheduled to be launched in the state next month. Under the scheme, eligible women aged between 21 and 59 years will receive Rs. 1,500 per month. The state government has also decided to increase the incentive amount for milk producers from Rs. 3 to Rs. 6 per litre to encourage and support milk producers. He said that the state government is also working on a new scheme for the Gaddi community to help them secure better prices for meat.
Sh. Sukhu said that the state government has adopted zero tolerance towards corruption which has helped in generating additional revenue to the state exchequer. The government had to dissolve the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) following reports of irregularities and paper leaks, which had deprived meritorious students of a fair opportunity to qualify in competitive examinations. Cases were registered against all the officers and officials involved in the irregularities, who are still behind bars. He said that the recruitment process had now been made completely transparent through computerisation.
He added that the state government was filling vacant posts on priority to ensure the smooth functioning of various departments. He said that additional posts in various categories in the health, education and other departments would be filled soon.

Himachal achieves historic victory in BBMB arrears case : CM
- State to receive Rs. 20000 crore in 20 years, another major win for Himachal’s rights
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed happiness over the historic success achieved by Himachal Pradesh in the Supreme Court regarding BBMB arrears and the state’s financial rights, calling it a victory for the people of the state. Under this arrangement, Himachal Pradesh will receive 60 crore units of electricity every year for 20 years thereby generating income of Rs. 10000 crore to Rs. 20000 crore during the period. He said that the state government’s strong determination, sincere efforts and continuous legal battle had resulted in a significant achievement in securing the state’s rightful dues.
The Chief Minister said that this decision could help the state earn additional revenue of up to Rs. 1,000 crore every year, if the electricity rate is fixed at Rs. 13 to Rs. 14 per unit, the state would benefit even more. However, even if the rate remains at Rs. 6 per unit, the government would still receive at least Rs. 500 crore every year. He said this additional income would strengthen the state’s financial position and help to speed up development works.
Sh. Sukhu said that this was the fourth major success attained by the present state government concerning Himachal Pradesh’s interests. Earlier, the government had successfully fought for the State’s rights in matters relating to Wildflower Hall, JSW and the Kishau Dam. The latest success in the BBMB arrears case has once again shown that with honest intentions and a strong commitment to the state’s interests, even difficult cases can be won.
He said that the government would continue its fight in future also to protect the rights of Himachal Pradesh with the same determination. The state government is also strongly pursuing issues such as the Shanan Power Project and Water Cess. Every possible effort will be made to ensure that Himachal Pradesh receives its rightful share.
Congratulating the nearly 75 lakh people and 24 lakh families of the state on this historic achievement, the Chief Minister said that securing the state's rights over its resources was one of the government's top priorities.
He said that the additional revenue would be used to improve education and healthcare facilities, develop roads and other infrastructure, create employment opportunities for young people and ensure that government employees receive their financial benefits on time.
Sh. Sukhu said that the people of Himachal Pradesh had given him the responsibility of protecting the state's resources and wealth for five years. He was fulfilling this responsibility with complete honesty, dedication and commitment. He added that the main aim of the present government was to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant and protect the interests of its people.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that continued efforts to secure the rightful value of the state's natural resources and protect its rights would help Himachal Pradesh become the most prosperous and happiest state in the country by 2032.
