Chandigarh, September 30, 2026:The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, today held a Samaadhaan Shivir for the residents of Ram Darbar at the Community Centre, providing residents a direct platform to raise their grievances and concerns before the Administrator and senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration. The Shivir focused on addressing issues related to civic amenities, public services and local infrastructure, with concerned departments examining the grievances for necessary action and time-bound redressal.

The Administrator was accompanied by Mayor Shri Saurabh Joshi, Chief Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments and other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration.

During the Shivir, a total of 66 residents individually presented their grievances before the Administrator, covering issues related to sanitation, drinking water supply, electricity, roads, street lighting, housing, public health services, education, solid waste management, parking, demand for a Sampark Centre, and other infrastructure and public service-related matters.

Concerned officials of the Chandigarh Administration addressed residents’ concerns, provided updates on action taken and development works underway or planned for the area, and outlined possible solutions to issues within their respective departments.

In his address, the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, said that the Administration was working to address issues related to education, sports infrastructure, the proposed college in Manimajra and other public services. He said that matters concerning the Chandigarh Housing Board were being taken up with the Central Government. He assured residents that efforts would be made to establish a police beat box in Ram Darbar. He added that all grievances received during the first three Samaadhaan Shivirs had been resolved, while grievances requiring special supervision were being processed.

Addressing water supply issues, Shri Kataria said that the challenges were being addressed through collective efforts and public cooperation in water conservation. Referring to the Nasha Mukt Chandigarh campaign, he described it as a collective responsibility and urged people to work together to combat drug abuse and peddling. He added that civic issues, including those related to health and street vending, would continue to be addressed. He also assured residents that Lok Bhavan remains open to the public to hear their concerns.

The Samaadhaan Shivir is part of the Chandigarh Administration’s public outreach and grievance redressal mechanism, enabling residents to directly raise issues related to civic amenities, public services and local infrastructure with the Administrator and concerned departments.
