Chandigarh, August 28- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Friday celebrated the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan at Sant Kabir Kutir with schoolgirls, representatives of social organisations and dignitaries. The schoolgirls tied rakhis to the Chief Minister, who blessed them and wished them a bright future. His wife, Smt. Suman Saini, was also present on the occasion.

Extending greetings to the people of Haryana, the Chief Minister said Raksha Bandhan symbolises the sacred bond of love, affection and trust between brothers and sisters. The festival also reminds us of our responsibility towards the respect, safety and empowerment of daughters and sisters. He said the Haryana Government is continuously working to ensure their dignity and safety while providing them equal opportunities to move forward. Our daughters are the strength of our society and our state. A strong society can be built only by ensuring education, dignity and a safe environment for them, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini. He added that festivals such as Raksha Bandhan further strengthen social harmony, mutual affection and brotherhood.

Representatives of various social organisations and dignitaries also extended Raksha Bandhan greetings to the Chief Minister. Thanking them, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said social organisations play an important role in strengthening the spirit of service, cooperation and brotherhood in society.

Chandigarh, August 28- To acquaint the younger generation with the glorious history of the freedom movement and the struggle, sacrifice and valour of freedom fighters, the Haryana Archives Department organised an exhibition of historical and rare records at the Haryana Civil Secretariat, Sector-1, Chandigarh, from August 24 to 27. Important and rare historical documents, archival records and other material related to the freedom struggle were displayed at the exhibition.

The main objective of the exhibition was to take the glorious saga of the contribution, sacrifice and valour of the heroes of the freedom struggle to the people and acquaint the younger generation with the history of the country’s freedom movement. Through rare archival records and historical documents, visitors were provided information about significant events of the freedom movement and the circumstances of that era.

*Contribution of women freedom fighters also highlighted*

The exhibition also prominently highlighted the significant role played by women in the freedom struggle. Many women freedom fighters actively participated in the freedom movement with indomitable courage, sacrifice and dedication. Historical records and documents relating to their contribution were also displayed at the exhibition.

Important archival records relating to Haryana’s history and the state’s social and cultural heritage were also displayed at the exhibition. Ms. Manoj Sindhu and Ms. Meenakshi, Archivists with the Archives Department, briefed visitors in detail about the records and documents on display and acquainted them with important aspects of history. While explaining the significance of the historical documents displayed at the exhibition, they also acquainted visitors with the freedom movement and Haryana’s historical heritage.

Officers, employees and other visitors viewed the exhibition and gained important information about the glorious past of the country and the state through the rare historical documents on display.

The Archives Department is continuously making efforts towards the preservation and promotion of historical records and ensuring that this invaluable heritage is safely passed on to future generations. Such exhibitions play an important role in connecting young people with their history and the sacrifice and valour of freedom fighters.

Chandigarh, August 28 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the people of Punjab are fed up with the Aam Aadmi Party government and have made up their minds for a change. He said the AAP government has ruined Punjab and has even surpassed the previous Congress government in corruption. The people of Punjab have, therefore, resolved to form a BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and make Punjab a strong, developed and well-governed state. He said everyone must work together to take Punjab forward on the path of development and good governance while safeguarding the faith, culture and honour of its sacred land.

The Chief Minister was addressing a Mahasammelan at Baba Bakala Sahib in Amritsar on Friday. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Sh. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also addressed the gathering. A large number of BJP workers and people attended the Mahasammelan.

While paying obeisance to the sacred land of Amritsar and Baba Bakala Sahib, the Chief Minister said this is the revered land of the Gurus, where history was not merely written but created. Baba Bakala Sahib is the sacred place where, amid several claimants, the true Guru was identified. It was here that Bhai Makhan Shah Lubana recognised the truth and proclaimed, ‘Guru Ladho Re’. Standing on this sacred land, the Chief Minister paid his deepest respects at the feet of ‘Hind Di Chadar’, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

The Chief Minister said that in 1664, the eighth Guru, Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, indicated his successor with the words Baba Bakale. This historic episode conveyed to society that true leadership is recognised by character and that while truth may remain obscured for some time, it ultimately emerges into the light.

Extending greetings on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Chief Minister said that being among the people on this historic and revolutionary land felt not like attending a political gathering, but like being among family. This sense of belonging, he said, should not remain confined to meeting one another but must translate into a resolve to shoulder responsibility towards Punjab. The present time, he said, raises an important question: who can give Punjab honest politics, genuine promises and a sincere government? He said they had gathered not merely to attend an event, but to reaffirm their responsibility towards Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that safeguarding Punjab’s faith, protecting the hard work of its farmers, securing the future of its youth, ensuring the honour of women and protecting the Majha region along the country’s border constitute the BJP’s resolve today. He said the safety and security of mothers and sisters is not the responsibility of the government alone, but a duty shared by every member of society.

He said Majha is a land of courage, valour, sacrifice and the strength of farmers. Its people have always played an important role in defending the country and contributing to nation-building. Punjab, he said, is not merely a state but an important centre of the nation’s faith, culture and pride. We have come to safeguard Punjab’s faith, and together we will work to enhance Punjab’s honour, he said.

The Chief Minister said the people of Punjab and Haryana share a centuries-old bond of brotherhood. The culture, traditions and sentiments of the two states are deeply intertwined. He called upon everyone to move forward together and take Punjab on the path of development, good governance and prosperity.

*AAP Government Turned its Back on Promises Made to People of Punjab, pushing Punjab into a quagmire of corruption – Chief Minister*

Launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that in nearly four-and-a-half years, the government has turned its back on the promises made to the people and pushed Punjab into a quagmire of corruption. He said the AAP government lacks both the right policy and intent. Corruption is rampant in Punjab; rates have been fixed for every work, and nothing gets done without money, he said.

He said the people of Punjab had entrusted power to the Aam Aadmi Party with great hope and confidence, but the government had failed to live up to their expectations. The people have now understood the functioning of the government, he said, adding that they feel the present government has surpassed even the previous Congress government in corruption.

The Chief Minister said the responsibility of a government is to put systems in place, strengthen law and order and provide facilities to ordinary citizens, rather than cause them inconvenience.

He said the Aam Aadmi Party had made tall promises to the people of Punjab, and how many of these have actually been fulfilled is for the people themselves to see. This, he said, makes it clear that the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are two sides of the same coin.

*Chief Minister Targets AAP Government over Excise Inspector Recruitment*

Referring to the recent recruitment of Excise Inspectors, the Chief Minister said that jobs were given only to favoured candidates, depriving children from poor families of employment opportunities. He said Punjab’s youth are grappling with unemployment and had pinned high hopes on the AAP government for employment opportunities. He asked the Punjab Government to tell the people how many youth have been provided employment since it came to power.

Drawing a contrast with Haryana, the Chief Minister said government jobs in the state are being provided to youth transparently, purely on merit and without ‘parchi-kharchi’ or discrimination. More than 2 lakh government jobs have been provided in Haryana so far.

He said it is the responsibility of a government to improve people’s standard of living through pro-people and welfare-oriented schemes. Through a range of public welfare initiatives, the Haryana Government has brought about significant changes in the economic and social lives of people.

*Haryana’s Successful Public Welfare Model Will Also Be Implemented in Punjab – Chief Minister*

The Chief Minister said that when a BJP government is formed in Punjab in the coming time, Haryana’s successful public welfare models will also be implemented in the state to ensure its safe and holistic development.

He said that in just 18 months, the BJP government in Haryana has successfully fulfilled 70 of the 217 Sankalps made in its Sankalp Patra, while work on the remaining commitments is progressing rapidly.

The Chief Minister said women belonging to families with an annual income of less than Rs. 1.80 lakh are being provided LPG cylinders for just Rs. 500. Under the scheme, more than Rs. 300 crore has so far been transferred directly into the accounts of beneficiaries.

*Rs. 2,100 Financial Assistance to Women under Lado Lakshmi Yojana*

The Chief Minister said that to economically empower women, the Haryana Government had made a budgetary provision of Rs. 5,000 crore to ensure financial assistance of Rs. 2,100 under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana. Of this, more than Rs. 2,000 crore has already been transferred to women’s accounts.

Taking on the Aam Aadmi Party over its promises to women in Punjab, he said the party had made several major commitments, including financial assistance, but women are still waiting for those promises to be fulfilled. BJP governments, he said, work to deliver what they promise, with ordinary citizens remaining at the centre of government policies and schemes.

*Haryana Procuring Entire Produce of Farmers at MSP – Chief Minister*

The Chief Minister said Haryana is the first state in the country where the entire produce of farmers is procured at MSP, and payment is ensured in their accounts within 48 hours. More than Rs. 1,600 crore has been transferred to farmers’ accounts as compensation for crop losses. Besides, vegetable growers are being compensated for losses under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana.

*Over 2 Lakh Patients Benefit from Free Dialysis*

The Chief Minister said free dialysis facilities have been made available to kidney patients across Haryana, benefiting more than 2 lakh patients without any out-of-pocket expenditure.

He said significant work has also been undertaken to provide housing to homeless people. More than 1.60 lakh houses have been constructed in the state and their keys handed over to beneficiaries. In addition, landless families have been provided 100-square-yard plots in villages and 30-square-yard plots in urban areas and linked with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana so that permanent houses can be constructed for them.

*Call to Give Punjab a New Direction of Development and Good Governance*

The Chief Minister said Punjab has immense potential. It is a land of hardworking farmers, brave soldiers, talented youth and empowered women. What Punjab needs, he said, is a government that accords priority to development, good governance, transparency and public welfare.

He said the people of Punjab must now decide whether they want politics driven by promises or politics centred on development and good governance. The people of Punjab are fed up with the Aam Aadmi Party government and have made up their minds for change. The coming time belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party, and a BJP government will be formed in Punjab under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, he said.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the people of Punjab will extend their support to politics based on development, good governance, transparency and national interest.
