Chandigarh, 12 August 2026: Motorola, a global leader in mobile technology and innovation, handed over the completion certificate of the Motorola Aakashvani Programme to the Government of Haryana in the presence of Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Ms. Ipshita Chowdhury, India Marketing Head, Motorola, Ms. Poulamee Dey, India CSR Specialist, Motorola and other dignitaries. Jointly implemented by Motorola Mobility, Tarq Foundation, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, and ANNAM.AI, the programme has successfully completed the deployment of 35 Automated Weather Stations (AWS) across villages in Kurukshetra and Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, enabling AI-powered hyperlocal weather intelligence for approximately 17,000 farmers and benefiting 87,000 rural residents.

The initiative collects and analyses hyperlocal weather parameters, including rainfall, temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and atmospheric pressure, to generate real-time weather forecasts, early warning alerts, and actionable advisories. These AI-powered insights enable farmers to make informed decisions on sowing, irrigation, crop protection, and harvesting while strengthening preparedness for extreme weather events. The programme also promotes community resilience through WhatsApp-based alerts, Panchayat-led information dissemination, and capacity-building initiatives that help farmers and local stakeholders interpret and effectively use weather intelligence. Additionally, it generates verifiable weather datasets that support climate-risk planning and crop insurance claim validation, backed by continuous monitoring, maintenance, and technical support to ensure the reliability and long-term sustainability of the AWS infrastructure and advisory systems. As changing weather patterns continue to impact agricultural productivity, especially in an agriculturally rich state as Haryana, timely access to localized weather intelligence has become increasingly critical for farming communities. A baseline assessment conducted by Motorola across project villages found that 82% of farmers had experienced significant climate-related crop losses, while only 21% were using weather forecasts to support farming decisions. The programme was designed to bridge this information gap by providing reliable, village-level weather intelligence that is timely, localized, and actionable.
