CHANDIGARH, 05.08.26-Today, Sh. Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, President, and Sh. Rajat Malhotra, Legal Advisor, of the Chandigarh Traders' Association (Regd.), Sector 17, submitted a memorandum to the GST Grievance Redressal Committee (GST Central), Chandigarh, seeking several reforms aimed at simplifying GST compliance and enhancing the ease of doing business. The Association proposed the introduction of an annual revision window for GST returns, a single integrated GST return system, rationalisation of late fees and interest, faster and automated processing of GST refunds, automatic payment of interest on delayed refunds, reduction in documentation for export refunds, and better integration of GST-related digital portals.
The Association further urged that taxpayers with an annual turnover of up to тВ╣5 crore be permitted to file quarterly GST returns along with quarterly tax payments, thereby reducing the compliance burden on MSMEs and improving their working capital management. Additionally, the Association requested that the minutes of previous GST Grievance Redressal Committee meetings, along with the Action Taken Reports (ATR), be circulated before every meeting to ensure greater transparency, accountability, and effective follow-up on issues raised by the trade and industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Kamaljit Singh Panchhi and Sh. Rajat Malhotra expressed confidence that these reforms would make the GST regime simpler, more transparent, efficient, and taxpayer-friendly, while promoting greater ease of doing business and strengthening confidence among the business community.
