*Mann Government Transforming Punjab Through Employment, Education and Social Equality: Dr. Baljit Kaur*
*Government creating dignified employment opportunities within Punjab, reversing the trend of youth migration abroad*
*Over 10 lakh SC students benefited from scholarships; 10,000 Anganwadi recruitments and transformation of government schools have strengthened social justice*
Chandigarh, August 5:Punjab's Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development and Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, Dr. Baljit Kaur, today said in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government has transformed Punjab's future by placing employment, quality education and social equality at the centre of governance. She said the Government is committed to building a self-reliant, inclusive and progressive Punjab where every youth has access to dignified employment within the State and every child receives quality education.
Quoting eminent Punjabi poet Dr. Navtej Bharti, Dr. Baljit Kaur said, "When working hands join together, the world becomes a better place to live. Our earth revolves not merely around the sun, but around hardworking hands." She said this philosophy reflects the vision that drives the Mann Government's people-centric policies and welfare initiatives.
The Minister said reversing the long-standing trend of youth migrating abroad in search of employment was one of the Government's biggest challenges. Over the past four years, the State Government has created large-scale employment opportunities, enabling young people to build successful careers in Punjab itself. She added that the Government's objective is to ensure that every section of society becomes an equal stakeholder in the State's growth and prosperity.
Citing an example from her constituency, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that 25 young people from village Fakarsar have secured employment during the last four years, including 20 from the Scheduled Caste community. She said this demonstrates that the benefits of the Government's policies are reaching deserving and marginalised sections of society at the grassroots level.
Highlighting the Government's commitment to educational empowerment, Dr. Baljit Kaur said previous governments had withheld Scheduled Caste scholarships for three years, adversely affecting the future of thousands of students. She said the Mann Government restored the scholarship scheme immediately after assuming office and increased the number of beneficiaries by 35 percent. As a result, more than 10 lakh Scheduled Caste students have benefited from scholarships during the past four years.
The Minister further said that the recruitment of 10,000 Anganwadi Workers and Helpers is far more than a government employment initiative. It is a historic step towards empowering women, particularly in rural Punjab, by providing them with sustainable livelihoods, strengthening thousands of families economically and enhancing women's confidence and financial independence.
Appreciating the far-reaching reforms introduced by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains in government schools, Dr. Baljit Kaur said education and employment share an inseparable relationship. Quoting renowned Punjabi poet Dr. Surjit Patar, she remarked, "How profound is the relationship between education and livelihood." She said quality education is the strongest foundation for sustainable employment and social progress.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said Punjab's government schools have undergone a remarkable transformation, ensuring that children from both affluent and economically weaker families receive quality education on an equal footing. She reiterated that by integrating employment generation, educational reforms and social justice, the Mann Government is laying the foundation for a prosperous, self-reliant and vibrant Rangla Punjab, where growth and opportunities are accessible to every citizen.

*I Received Heart Treatment I Needed at Right Time Without Financial Burden: Bir Singh, Beneficiary*
CHANDIGARH, August 5:The real measure of a healthcare scheme is not just the amount spent or the number of cases processed, it is whether people are able to get treatment when they need it most. Bhagwant Mann Government's Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) has now reached a significant milestone, with 2,91,417 beneficiaries receiving treatment support since 8 January 2026.
As per recent data from the State Health Agency (SHA), Punjab, Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana has provided healthcare services worth around тВ╣1,044 crore through cashless treatment facilities. Behind these numbers are families who were able to focus on recovery instead of worrying about arranging money during medical emergencies. Speaking on the achievement, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh said, “A healthcare scheme is successful only when it reaches people at the time they need it. Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is not just about numbers; it is about making sure that a patient does not have to choose between treatment and financial burden. Every beneficiary represents a family that received support during a difficult time.”
The Health Minister further said, “We know that healthcare needs are constantly changing, and our responsibility is to keep improving the system. Through Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, we are working to make cashless treatment more accessible, strengthen healthcare delivery, and ensure that every eligible citizen gets the benefit of this initiative.”
Many beneficiaries have expressed their happiness and satisfaction over Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana. For Sureshpal Kaur, Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana became a support system during a difficult pregnancy. “During my pregnancy, I faced health complications because of high blood pressure and needed a C-section delivery, that’s when the Sehat card came to rescue. After birth, my baby required special neonatal care, which was also provided under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana package. The scheme supported us at a difficult time and gave my baby the care needed for a healthy start,” said Sureshpal Kaur.
For Rupinder Kaur from Sunam, years of knee pain had made everyday activities difficult. “I was suffering from severe knee pain and the thought of surgery was difficult because of the expenses involved. Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana helped me get my knee replacement surgery free of cost. The treatment has helped me return to a better quality of life,” said Rupinder Kaur.
Furthermore, a beneficiary Bir Singh from Tarn Taran received timely cardiac care under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana after being diagnosed with a heart condition. He underwent PTCA (Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty) along with angiography.
"Doctors said heart treatment cannot always wait, and the expenses can be stressful for families. Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana helped me receive the treatment I needed at the right time,” said Bir Singh.
The impact of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is visible across Punjab, with beneficiaries from every district receiving treatment support. As per district-wise data from State Health Agency (SHA) Punjab, a total of 2,91,417 people have benefitted from the scheme. Patiala leads the state with 27,892 beneficiaries, followed by Bathinda with 22,584 and Ludhiana with 21,729 beneficiaries. The numbers show that the demand for accessible healthcare support is not limited to one region but is spread across Punjab.
The scheme has also reached a large number of beneficiaries in Jalandhar (19,312), Hoshiarpur (19,075), Amritsar (16,550), Sangrur (16,549), Sri Muktsar Sahib (14,800), Firozepur (13,344), and Gurdaspur (12,037). The district-wise beneficiary count further includes Moga (11,669), Fazilka (11,516), Mansa (10,539), Faridkot (10,309), Barnala (8,773) Tarn Taran (8,714), Rupnagar (8,574), S.A.S Nagar (8,085), Fatehgarh Sahib (7,933), Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar (6,999), Kapurthala (5,928), Pathankot (5,844), and Malerkotla (2,472). This wide coverage shows that Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is not only reaching major cities but also extending healthcare support to families across districts, including smaller towns and rural areas.
The growing reach of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana reflects a simple but important change in healthcare delivery, people are getting treatment without having to first worry about how they will pay for it. As the scheme continues to expand, its focus remains clear: making quality healthcare available, accessible, and affordable for the people of Punjab.

*OVER 68K GOVT JOBS, 6.36 LAC PRIVATE JOBS WITH 1.83 LAC CRORE INVESTMENTS IN 4.5 YAERS: MANN GOVT BUILDING CONDUCIVE ECOSYSTEM: AMAN ARORA*
*• Aman Arora catches Cong mla Laddi off guard over Shahkot jobs claim*
*•Youth unemployment in Punjab drops from 19.1% to 17%, says Arora*
CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 5:Putting the opposition on the back foot in the state legislative assembly, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training and Industries & Commerce Minister Mr. Aman Arora said that the state has provided over 68000 Government Jobs and attracted investments worth тВ╣1,83,837 crore and generated 6,36,636 private sector jobs over the last four-and-a-half years.
Winding up the discussion on a resolution on employment opportunities moved by MLA S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal in the House, on Wednesday, Mr. Aman Arora told the House that the investment inflows had directly and indirectly created over 6.36 lakh jobs in the private sector. He cited the example of Japanese steel major AICHI Steel, which scaled up its planned investment from тВ╣500 crore to тВ╣1,100 crore after being impressed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government’s facilitation and ease of doing business.
Catching the Congress MLA Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia off guard on charge that no one from Shahkot assembly constituency got a government job, Mr Aman Arora challenged him to convene a gathering in his Shahkot constituency. “I will come and we will ask the people if they got jobs. If I am wrong, I will resign as minister and MLA. If I am right, then Laddi should resign,” he said. MLA Laddi didn’t accept the challenge and walked away.
He asserted that all government jobs had been given on merit, without any bribe or recommendation.
Mr. Aman Arora highlighted the state government’s record push for skill development, noting that the state budget had allocated тВ╣25 crore for the Skill Development Mission for the first time in 75 years, up from тВ╣10 crore previously. He claimed over 22 lakh youth had been facilitated through placement camps and handholding exercises. At a recent mega job fair in Sunam, 61 companies participated and issued on-the-spot job letters to nearly 700 youth.
The Employment Generation minister further shared that the state government was setting up a тВ╣100-crore world-class Sant Attar Singh Maharaj Armed Forces Preparatory Institute in Sangrur district– the first of its kind globally – to train 500 youth annually for officer-level positions in the armed forces.
Citing central government data, Mr. Aman Arora said Punjab’s unemployment rate among the 15-29 age group had dropped from 19.1 per cent in 2022 to 17 per cent in 2025, and referenced the Periodic Labour Force Survey which placed Punjab among states with improved employment metrics.
Drawing a global analogy, he said India’s GDP was slightly higher than China’s at the time of Independence. “China put every hand to work and became the world’s factory. In the near future, China may surpass the US. We have the same capacity, but the right environment was missing. We are now correcting that,” he said.
The Cabinet Minister stressed that no government in the world could guarantee a job to every citizen, asserting that the real duty of a government was to create a conducive ecosystem for industry and employment. “We are not here to just give numbers. We are creating an atmosphere where every youth can stand on his own feet,” he said.
Taking a swipe at the Opposition’s demand for a white paper, he said, “The best, cheapest and most sustainable white paper is to ask the people directly. File an RTI or hold a public meeting. Let the people tell you if they got jobs.”
Mr. Aman Arora lashed out at the previous Congress government over its “Har Ghar Naukri” promise, calling it the “biggest fraud” on Punjab’s youth. He asserted that the AAP government had provided nearly 70,000 government jobs in a transparent manner, without any quid pro quo. He reiterated that the government’s sole objective was to make Punjab a model for ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and generate dignified, skill-based employment.

*MANN GOVT RESTORES YOUTH’S FAITH IN MERIT-BASED GOVERNMENT RECRUITMENT: BARINDER KUMAR GOYAL*
*OVER 68,000 GOVERNMENT JOBS HAVE ENDED THE ERA OF MONEY, RECOMMENDATIONS AND POLITICAL PATRONAGE*
*Chandigarh, August 5:*Punjab Water Resources Minister Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal on Wednesday said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government has ushered in a transformative change in the state’s recruitment system by ensuring that government jobs are provided purely on merit, without money, recommendations or political patronage.
Participating in the discussion on the resolution moved by MLA S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha regarding the State Government’s efforts to provide employment opportunities to the youth, Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal said that the transparent recruitment process has restored the confidence of Punjab’s youth and their families in the government system.
He said, “Before the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party Government in 2022, securing a government job was often perceived as a process dependent on political connections, personal recommendations and financial influence. Families of applicants were compelled to seek support from influential persons or arrange money, while deserving and talented candidates often faced uncertainty regarding their future.”
The Cabinet Minister said that during the tenure of previous governments, deserving and meritorious youth were often deprived of their rightful opportunities, leaving many of them disheartened and demoralised. However, Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has transformed the recruitment landscape by creating an environment where government jobs can be secured without paying money or seeking political recommendations.
Sh. Goyal said that the flawed practices of previous governments had pushed many young people into despair. While the opposition now claims that Punjab’s youth were leaving for foreign countries, the Mann Government has provided them with employment opportunities and encouraged them to build their careers in Punjab.
“We have reversed the growing trend of youth looking abroad for opportunities and motivated them to focus on education and competitive preparation,” he added.
Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal said that soon after assuming office, Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann made it clear that the rights of deserving and capable youth would not be compromised to benefit either influential or financially powerful candidates. During its first year, the Mann Government provided 20,000 jobs and has since created employment opportunities for more than 68,000 youth through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
“By providing over 68,000 government jobs, the Mann Government has not merely given employment but has also revived the confidence of a generation that had begun to believe that government jobs could not be secured without money or recommendations,” said the Cabinet Minister.
He said that the transparent recruitment policy has encouraged students to focus on education and competitive examinations. The renewed faith in merit has also generated greater interest among students in pursuing quality education in government schools.
Referring to the improved academic performance of government school students, Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal said that 882 students from Punjab government schools have cleared the NEET examination, signalling the growing confidence of students and parents in the state’s public education system.
The Cabinet Minister said that the government’s employment initiatives have also encouraged many young people to pursue careers in Punjab rather than looking abroad for opportunities.
Citing an example from his native village Hamirgarh, the Cabinet Minister said that a young woman who had completed visa formalities and purchased air tickets to go abroad cancelled her travel plans after being selected as a Patwari and is now serving in Punjab.
He said that even those youth who have not yet secured employment have not lost hope or slipped into despair. Instead, they are participating in competitive examinations with renewed determination and the confidence that sincere hard work and merit will secure them employment in the future.
He added that while recruitment-related controversies and paper leaks have undermined the confidence of students at the national level, the Punjab Government has established a transparent and accountable recruitment framework that safeguards the interests of deserving candidates and ensures equal opportunities for all.
The Cabinet Minister said that by dismantling the entrenched culture of favouritism, financial influence and political patronage, the Mann Government has restored the faith of the state’s youth and their parents in the recruitment system. Today, they are confident that government jobs can be secured honestly and purely on merit under the Aam Aadmi Party Government.
