MC Chandigarh holds free Eye check up camp for drivers under Swachh Bharat Mission; 147 beneficiaries screened.

Chandigarh, April 23:- Reinforcing its commitment to employee welfare and public safety, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organized a Free Eye Check-up Camp for its drivers under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission. The camp was conducted in collaboration with Grover Eye Laser Hospital at the MC Building, Sector 17.

The initiative aimed at ensuring optimal vision health among drivers, thereby contributing to safer roads and efficient service delivery. A total of 147 drivers participated in the camp and underwent detailed eye examinations carried out by a team of experienced ophthalmologists and medical professionals.

During the camp, participants received expert advice on eye care, vision correction, and preventive measures. Necessary recommendations for further treatment and use of corrective lenses were also provided wherever required, ensuring timely intervention for vision-related issues.

Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS stated that healthy vision among drivers is crucial not only for their personal well-being but also for maintaining road safety standards across the city. Organizing health camps under national missions like Swachh Bharat further strengthens the Corporation’s holistic approach towards sanitation, safety, and workforce welfare.

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh reaffirmed its resolve to continue organizing similar health and awareness programmes in the future, ensuring a healthier, safer, and more productive workforce.

Encroachment crackdown in sectors 15 & 34; 72 challans issued, corridors cleared

Chandigarh, April 23:- Acting on the directions of Joint Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Gupta, the MC enforcement team today carried out a special enforcement drive against encroachments and unauthorized vending in key commercial areas of the city.

The drive was conducted in Sector 15 Patel Market, showroom areas, and designated vendor sites, followed by a similar operation in the furniture market of Sector 34. During the drive, enforcement teams ensured the clearance of public corridors and pedestrian pathways, restoring ease of movement for shoppers and residents.

A total of four enforcement teams (SIEs) were deployed to carry out the operation efficiently. The drive was conducted in a peaceful and systematic manner, with strict action taken against violators.

As a result of the enforcement action, 72 challans were issued for various violations, including illegal encroachments and non-compliance with municipal regulations.

Such drives are part of the Municipal Corporation’s continuous efforts to maintain orderly markets, ensure public convenience, and uphold civic norms. The Corporation has reiterated that regular monitoring and strict enforcement will continue to keep city markets encroachment-free.
