Chandigarh, April 22: The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has urged city residents and property owners to take full advantage of the ongoing property tax rebate scheme by making timely payments within the stipulated period.
The Commissioner, MC Chandigarh, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, stated here today that the Assessment Year for Property Tax 2026–27 has commenced from April 1, 2026. Property owners depositing their tax within the rebate period can avail attractive rebate benefits.
He informed that residential property owners can avail a 20% rebate, while commercial property owners can avail a 10% rebate on payment of property tax during the rebate period. The rebate will be applicable on payments made from April 1, 2026 to May 31, 2026, while payments through cheque and demand draft will be accepted only up to May 26, 2026.
The Commissioner emphasized that early payment of property tax not only helps citizens avail maximum rebate but also strengthens the Municipal Corporation’s financial resources. He added that property tax is a major source of revenue for the Municipal Corporation, which is utilized for providing essential civic services such as sanitation, road maintenance, water supply and urban development works across the city.
Citizens have also been advised to check their current demand along with any arrears on the official e-Sampark portal before making the payment and ensure that the dues are cleared within the stipulated rebate period in order to avail the applicable rebate benefits.
He further appealed to all residents, commercial establishments and property owners to clear their dues well in time to avoid last-minute inconvenience. The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has made adequate arrangements for smooth and hassle-free payment through both online and offline modes.
