CHANDIGARH,26.01.2026-The 77th Republic Day celebrations were held at Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, here today. As per the tradition of the college, the oldest serving employee in the order, Mr. Raj Kumar, was the Chief Guest of the day and hoisted the National Flag.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal of the college, Dr. Mrs. Sapna Nanda, congratulated everyone on the occasion and highlighted the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity that form the foundation of the Republic of India. In her address, she laid special emphasis on the recent developments in the field of education in India, particularly the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which envisions holistic, multidisciplinary, and learner-centric education.
She spoke about key reforms focusing on skill development, experiential learning, digital integration in education, teacher empowerment, and inclusive practices, which are transforming the educational landscape of the country. She further emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in shaping responsible, innovative, and value-oriented citizens capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st century. The Principal reiterated that these educational reforms are vital for nation-building and for strengthening India’s position on the global platform.
Students of the college presented patriotic songs, adding zeal and enthusiasm to the celebrations. Sweets were distributed on the occasion. The programme was conducted by the Staff Secretary, Dr. Lilu Ram, and was attended by the faculty, office, and administrative staff of the college. The function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
