CHANDIGARH, 26.01.26-Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has put up an attractive and impactful tableau under the Swachh Bharat Mission on the theme “Swachh Sawari”.

The tableau effectively showcases the innovative initiative of MCC for collection of old clothes, footwear, toys, books and other reusable household items from citizens.

The collected material is refurbished at the MCC RRR (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) Store and subsequently redistributed among the needy sections of society through One Rupee Store sales, wherein each item is made available at a nominal cost of ₹1. This initiative beautifully symbolizes the core principles of sustainability—Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, while promoting social welfare and responsible consumption.

In addition, the tableau strongly highlights the importance of segregation of waste at source. The concept is clearly demonstrated through the display of four distinct colour-coded containers:

Blue Bin for dry waste
Green Bin for wet waste
Red Bin for sanitary waste
Black Bin for hazardous waste

This powerful visual message encourages citizens to adopt scientific waste management practices in their daily lives.

With collective participation and sustained efforts of all stakeholders, the city can achieve greater cleanliness, enhance environmental sustainability and strive towards securing the No.1 position in the forthcoming Swachhata Survekshan.
