Bilaspur, January 07: The Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, today virtually inaugurated the Permanent Additional District & Sessions Judge Court at the District Court Complex, Bilaspur. On this occasion, the Administrative Judge for Bilaspur, Justice Vipin Chandra Negi, was also specially present.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Justice stated that considering the large number of pending cases in Bilaspur, the establishment of an Additional District & Sessions Judge Court had become necessary. He said that this initiative would prove to be a major relief for the general public in the coming times, as it would expedite hearings and ensure speedy and effective delivery of justice.
On the occasion, District & Sessions Judge Jyotsna Sumant Dadwal informed that at present a total of 28,859 cases are pending in the Bilaspur Civil and Sessions Division, including 9,235 civil cases and 19,624 criminal cases. She stated that prior to the establishment of the permanent Additional District & Sessions Judge Court, hearings were conducted only through a camp system for 15 days, whereas now regular daily hearings would be possible. This would significantly accelerate case disposal and help ensure timely justice for the public. She added that this step marked an important move toward strengthening the judicial infrastructure and expediting the process of effective disposal of pending cases.
On this occasion, Bar Association President S. L. Thakur expressed gratitude to the High Court for establishing the Permanent Additional District & Sessions Judge Court in Bilaspur, describing it as a significant and farsighted decision in the interest of both advocates and litigants.
During the event, the newly appointed Additional District & Sessions Judge Navish Bhardwaj also assumed charge of his office.
Present on the occasion were Additional District & Sessions Judge Dr. Mohit Bansal, Chief Judicial Magistrate Akshi Sharma, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Prateek Gupta, Judicial Magistrate First Class Sonia Gupta, Mobile Traffic Magistrate Raghav Gupta, along with other judicial officers, advocates, and court staff.
