*A Permanent Gift on Chhath Puja: Energy Minister Anil Vij Fulfills Promise Within 24 Hours, Sanctions Rs. 50 Lakh for Construction of Pucca Ghat*
*Funds released to Ambala Sadar Municipal Council; Permanent Ghat to be built near Indira Park beside Dhobighat for devotees’ convenience*
Chandigarh, October 28:- Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij has given a special gift to devotees on the occasion of Chhath Puja. Demonstrating prompt action, the Minister released Rs.50 lakh from his discretionary fund within just 24 hours of announcing the construction of a permanent pond/ghat for Chhath rituals. The pucca ghat will be developed near Indira Park, adjacent to Dhobighat in Ambala Sadar.
It may be recalled that on Monday evening, during a Chhath Puja event held near the Tangri Dam at Babyal, Minister Vij had announced the construction of a permanent ghat in response to public demand. He has now fulfilled that promise within a day.
Sh.Vij has directed the Ambala Sadar Municipal Council to ensure that the ghat is built in a modern and well-equipped manner for community use during Chhath Puja. The upcoming structure will be approximately 75 meters long and 20 meters wide, with a depth of around five feet. Cemented steps will lead into the water, and steel railings will be installed around the perimeter for safety. The site will also have boundary walls and two separate entry and exit gates for smooth movement of devotees, along with other essential facilities.
With the construction of this pucca ghat, devotees will no longer have to depend on temporary ponds or makeshift water bodies for Chhath rituals. The new facility will provide a safe and permanent location for performing the traditional worship and Arghya offerings to the Sun God.
This marks another community-focused initiative by Minister Anil Vij, whose swift action has ensured that Ambala Cantonment will now have a dedicated and permanent Chhath Puja site. Until now, devotees had been celebrating the festival using temporary water pits, but the new ghat will make future observances more organized, safe, and convenient.
