Film Screening Organized at CUH to Promote Legal Literacy
The Legal Aid Society of the Department of Law at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh advanced its mission to promote legal literacy and social justice by organizing an insightful screening of the classic Hindi film "Dushmun" (1971).
Dr. Pardeep Singh, Head and Dean of the School of Law, inaugurated the initiative, emphasizing under the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, that such experiential learning is vital for making legal education more impactful and socially relevant; he urged students to become brand ambassadors for access to justice and also appreciated the newly enacted criminal laws as an innovative step towards indiganization of Indian legal system.
The event, designed to use cinema as a powerful medium for legal education, attracted active participation from LLB, LLM, and Ph.D. scholars of the Law Department, as well as students from various other disciplines, whose interdisciplinary engagement highlighted the universal relevance of the film's themes.
The narrative, centered on guilt, justice, and redemption, profoundly resonated with the audience, sparking critical reflections on the law's humane and reformative dimensions, which form the core philosophy of legal aid. The event culminated in a lively discussion over refreshments, successfully leaving participants inspired to perceive law not merely as a profession but as a pathway to empathy, awareness, and profound social transformation.
