Chandigarh, 25 September: The NSS Units of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with the Department of Home Science, organised Nutribake- an innovative baking competition themed “From Nutrition Science to Healthy Baking”. The event brought together 24 enthusiastic participants who showcased their culinary creativity while applying principles of nutrition, healthy food choices and balanced dietary practices to baking.
The participants presented an array of nutritious and innovative bakery products, demonstrating creativity in ingredient selection, preparation techniques and presentation. Some of the creations included Guilt-Free Chocolate Banana Bites, Chakhao Cake with Red Rice from Manipur, Shahi Kesar Badam Cake, Apple Oats Cake and Pear Oats Bliss. The competition encouraged participants to experiment with healthier alternatives while retaining the desirable qualities of taste, texture and visual appeal. Adding an educational dimension to the event was an informative poster display on Nutrition Science, Diet and Health. Through engaging visual presentations, the participants highlighted the importance of essential nutrients, balanced diets and healthy dietary practices, while emphasising the role of nutrition in promoting overall health and well-being. The display helped establish a meaningful connection between classroom-based nutritional knowledge and its practical application in everyday food choices. The initiative provided an experiential learning platform integrating nutrition education, culinary skills, creativity and health awareness.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and said that activities like these provide students with an opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practical, meaningful and creative experiences. She emphasised that developing awareness about nutrition and healthy dietary practices among young learners is essential for fostering informed lifestyle choices.
