Mahendergarh, 08.05.26-The Department of Psychology at the Central University of Haryana (CUH), in collaboration with the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Centre, Central University of Haryana, organized a colloquium and book launch programme on the theme “Psychology in India: Integration of Indian Knowledge System and Modern Approaches.” The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students.
Prof. Radhe Shyam from Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, attended the programme as the keynote speaker. In his address, he emphasized the need for integrating Indian knowledge traditions with modern psychology. He stated that Indian psychological perspectives remain highly relevant in contemporary times and their global significance continues to grow steadily.
On this occasion, the book “Psychology in India,” authored by Dr. Vishwa Chaudhary, Dr. Ravi Pandey, and Dr. Pradeep Kumar, was formally released by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar. Another book titled “Clinical Psychology: An Introduction,” authored by Prof. Radhe Shyam and Aaliya Akhtar, was also launched during the programme.
Congratulating the authors, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar remarked that these books would play a significant role in providing a new identity to Indian psychology. He stated that the books present Indian culture, knowledge, and science from a psychological perspective and would help carry Indian intellectual contributions to the younger generation. He further added that these works would inspire students and researchers to understand and connect with the Indian knowledge tradition.
The programme was jointly coordinated by Dr. Vishwa Chaudhary, Head of the Department of Psychology, and Prof. Anand Sharma, Director, Indian Knowledge System Centre (CUH). Meaningful discussions and deliberations were held on the relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems, modern psychology, and their role in education and research. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all the distinguished guests, faculty members, and students present on the occasion.
