MAHENDERGARH, 14.04.26-The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh inaugurated a state-of-the-art water treatment plant on Tuesday, marking a significant step toward ensuring safe and sustainable drinking water on campus. The facility was jointly inaugurated by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Dharambir Singh, MLA Kanwar Singh Yadav, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Dharambir Singh emphasized that clean air and safe drinking water are the most essential requirements for human health. He noted that the availability of a cleaner environment at CUH makes it a preferred choice for parents concerned about their children’s well-being. He also highlighted that the installation of the plant would benefit the public health ecosystem and planted a sapling at the site.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor welcomed the dignitaries and stated that the project had been long awaited and is now fully operational. He informed that the treated water is already being used in hostels, with balanced TDS levels eliminating the need for RO systems. He also acknowledged the support of MLA Kanwar Singh Yadav in the university’s development initiatives.
Kumar Gaurav, Chief Engineer, CUH informed that the project, executed by the Central Public Works Department, was completed at a cost of approximately ₹13.33 crore. The plant includes advanced infrastructure such as a 2.5 crore litre raw water storage tank, flash mixer, flocculation and clarifier units, filtration systems, and chlorination for disinfection. It also features multiple raw and treated water storage tanks to ensure efficient water supply across the campus. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all dignitaries, faculty members, and local representatives present on the occasion.
