Chandigarh, 28 March: Marking the occasion of World Water Day 2026, the NSS Units and Eco Club- ‘Parivesh’ of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an awareness drive through a human chain formation at Sukhna Lake. The event was conducted under the aegis of MCM Vigyan Manch and was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh.
Students showcased their commitment to environmental conservation by displaying handmade posters, raising impactful slogans, and interacting with the public to spread awareness about the urgent need for water conservation. Through powerful messages such as ‘Jal hai toh jeevan hai’ and ‘Save Water, Save Life’, they highlighted the critical importance of preserving water resources and adopting sustainable practices. The activity witnessed vibrant participation, with students creatively expressing their concerns about water scarcity and urging citizens to take collective responsibility. They also pledged to protect vital water bodies, prevent wastage, and combat water pollution.
Officials Principal Ms. Neena Sharma applauded the efforts of the students and organisers for their dedication towards promoting environmental consciousness. She emphasised that such initiatives play a vital role in fostering a sense of responsibility among youth and contribute significantly towards building a sustainable future.
