Chandigarh, 3RD December: Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women has once again proven its cultural and artistic prowess by winning top honours at the prestigious Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth and Heritage Festival 2025, held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Showcasing exceptional creativity and talent, the college secured first prize in Bagh Embroidery, second prize in Poster Making, and third prize in Mime.
Gaganjot Kaur, B.Sc. (Computer Science) 3rd year, clinched the first prize in Bagh Embroidery under the Heritage Art and Craft Items category. Her remarkable achievement follows her consecutive wins at both the Zonal and Inter-Zonal rounds of the Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival, paving her way to the state-level platform. Bringing further pride to the institution, Ritika Bose of B.A. 3rd year, achieved second prize in Poster Making after attaining first positions at the Zonal and Inter-Zonal levels. The college’s Mime team, comprising Saina, Diya, Angel, Simran, Divya, and Anjita, added to this triumphant streak by securing the third prize. The team had earlier demonstrated outstanding performance by winning at both the Zonal and Inter-Zonal Youth Festivals, maintaining their winning momentum at the Inter-University stage as well.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma congratulated the winners and applauded the dedicated efforts of their mentors. She expressed immense pride in the students’ achievements, stating that such accomplishments reinforce the institution’s commitment to nurturing excellence in youth and preserving India’s rich cultural heritage.
