Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), U.T. Chandigarh Branch, today flagged off two trucks carrying relief material for families affected by the recent flash floods in Nepal.

In his message, the Governor said that Lord Krishna’s life and teachings included the message of well-being and virtue. He propagated the concept of ‘Nishkam Karma’ and enlightened the people about the attainment of the ultimate truth through the path of ‘Dharma’

The programme was addressed by Mrs. Surjeet Kaur Walia, Member, Permanent Lok Adalat for Public Utility Services, U.T. Chandigarh.

During the review, Deputy Commissioner directed that all services proposed to be brought under the system be mapped and re-engineered to remove unnecessary steps, reduce repetitive procedures and minimise the need for citizens to interact with multiple departments.

Deputy Commissioner Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, said that the initiative would make the building plan approval process faster, simpler and more transparent. He said that self-certification by architects, timely SMS and email updates, and a real-time monitoring dashboard have helped reduce delays, keep applicants informed and ensure compliance with Citizen Charter timelines.

In view of the recent flash floods in Nepal, citizens are requested to inform the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, if they have any information regarding a person residing in Chandigarh who may be missing or untraced following the incident.

The action was carried out by ETI Gurpreet Singh, along with a police party, acting on specific information and under the guidance of ETC Chandigarh Shri Nishant Yadav and Collector Excise Shri Pradhuman Singh.
