The matches of the 20th Administrator’s Challenge Cup Football Tournament 2026 (U-17 Boys) were played today, 25 January 2026, at Sports Complex, Sector 46, Chandigarh.

The programme was graciously led by Prof. (Dr.) Renu Vig, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, in the august presence of Prof. Y. P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasised the importance of ethical voting, informed participation, and the responsibility of young citizens in nurturing a vibrant democracy.

Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary Chandigarh; Shri Vivek Partap Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor; Shri Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary; Shri Diprava Lakra, Finance Secretary; and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration were also present.

Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, administered the National Voters’ Day Pledge, reaffirming the collective commitment to uphold democratic values and participate responsibly in the electoral process.

Setting the context, Shri Swapnil M. Naik, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, UT Chandigarh, traced India’s journey from paper ballots to precision-driven electronic voting, highlighting the legal and procedural evolution that has significantly strengthened electoral integrity over the decades.

The Golden Jublilee celebrations will start with the lighting of Diyas and the floral tributes paid at the wax statue of Padma Shri Late Nek Chand by the Chief Guest Shri Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary-cum-Chairman, Rock Garden Society, Chandigarh

Mr. Avi Bhasin, President, Laghu Udyog Bharti Chandigarh, raised several important concerns on behalf of the industrial fraternity. Mr. Sunil Khetarpal, Vice President, Laghu Udyog Bharti, also joined the interaction and shared valuable inputs regarding ground-level issues faced by entrepreneurs.

Emphasising the timely completion of all preparatory activities, the Chief Secretary directed all concerned officers and departments to ensure close coordination and cooperation for the smooth and efficient conduct of Census-related work in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor extended greetings to the people of the participating States and Union Territories and said that such celebrations reflect India’s “Unity in Diversity” and strengthen national integration under the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative.

Sh. Rajiv Kumar Mehta, Chief Architect-cum-Member Convener briefed the Committee on the genesis of the Holistic Development Plan, the efforts undertaken so far, and the legal adjudications that led to convening the meeting.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome of the Chief Guest, Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Sports, Chandigarh Administration.

While reviewing the work, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that rechecking and verification of scanned data is of utmost importance, as this digital database will be used by multiple departments and stakeholders in the future for reference, verification and citizen service delivery.

Land earmarking ceremony for CBG plant held at Dadumajra dumping ground

Adminstrator Shri Gulab Chand Kataria presided over the proceedings and guided the discussions on wildlife conservation priorities in the Union Territory. The Chairman reviewed the status of actions taken on earlier decisions and the progress on the Eco-Sensitive Zone around Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary.
