SHIMLA-11 October, 2026-Governor Kavinder Gupta presides over a grand presentation of the complete Ramayana by school students from Delhi and other parts of the country at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The programme was organised by the university in association with the International Ramlila Mahotsav Association.
The Governor congratulated the organizers and the university administration for organizing the event. He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ved Prakash Tandon and Dr. Vandana Tandon in promoting India’s rich cultural heritage and traditional values among young people.
He said that Ramlila was not just a stage performance of Lord Shri Ram’s life but also taught important values such as truth, duty, discipline, sacrifice and respect for others.
The Governor said that Lord Shri Ram stood for truth and responsibility, Mata Sita represented patience and determination, Lakshman stood for devotion and brotherhood, and Bharat represented sacrifice and dedication to duty. Lord Hanuman, he said, inspired people through his courage, humility, devotion and selfless service.
Calling upon young people to learn from India’s cultural heritage, Shri Gupta said the country needed youth who respected their values, worked for the nation and used their knowledge and abilities for the welfare of society. He stressed that success should not be limited to personal achievements but should also benefit the country.
He also highlighted the message of teamwork and cooperation in the Ramayana. He said that people could achieve great goals by working together with trust and a shared purpose. He urged everyone to follow the values of truth, compassion, service, brotherhood and duty in daily life.
On the occasion, the Governor laid the foundation stones for girls’ and boys’ hostels to be constructed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 4 crore. The funds for these hostels were made available by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through the Governor’s efforts. The proposed facilities will strengthen the university’s student accommodation infrastructure.
He honoured university students who presented a cultural programme on the occasion.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Harminder Singh Baweja welcomed and honoured the Governor.
Later, the Governor also watched the Ramlila presentation.
Secretary to the Governor Sandeep Bhardwaj, officers of the district administration and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
