➖Rain Exposes Gaps in Procurement Arrangements; Farmers Left Struggling in Waterlogged Mandis, Including Fazilka

➖“The Crop Nurtured Like a Son Has Been Submerged in Water; AAP Government Responsible: Kewal Dhillon”

➖“Farmers’ Paddy Submerged in Mandis While Chief Minister Tells Jokes on Stage: Dhillon”

Chandigarh, October 11-BJP Punjab State President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over arrangements for paddy procurement, stating that the conditions witnessed in various mandis across Punjab following rainfall have exposed the shortcomings in the government’s procurement preparations.

Dhillon said that the visuals emerging particularly from the Dana Mandi in Fazilka were deeply concerning, with paddy crops, cultivated through months of hard work by farmers, seen submerged in rainwater.

He said that if mandis were facing such conditions at the very beginning of the paddy harvesting season, farmers could encounter even greater difficulties in the coming days. He added that inadequate drainage facilities, a lack of tarpaulins to protect crops from rain, and the absence of other essential arrangements in grain markets had become serious problems for farmers.

Dhillon stated that similar conditions were being reported not only from Fazilka’s mandi but also from other towns and villages across Punjab. The lack of proper arrangements to protect farmers’ produce in mandis raises serious questions about the government’s preparedness. He said farmers already invest immense effort and substantial money in cultivation. If crops nurtured like their own sons are damaged by waterlogging in mandis, the financial burden ultimately falls on the farmers themselves, for which the state government is directly responsible.

The BJP state president urged the AAP government to take farmers’ grievances seriously and immediately ensure proper drainage, adequate tarpaulins, appropriate crop protection measures, and smooth procurement operations in mandis. He said it was unacceptable for farmers to face difficulties while trying to sell their produce and watch the fruits of their hard work being destroyed before their eyes.

Targeting Chief Minister Punjab, Dhillon said that instead of telling jokes on public platforms, the government should focus on resolving farmers’ problems on the ground. He said that the failure to provide even basic facilities to farmers in mandis raises serious questions about the government’s functioning.
He asserted that the BJP stands firmly with farmers and will continue to raise its voice to ensure that their difficulties are addressed. He demanded that the Punjab government immediately review conditions in mandis, assess the damage to crops, and take concrete measures to protect farmers from any potential losses.

Describing Punjab’s farmers as the backbone of the state’s economy, Dhillon said safeguarding their produce was a primary responsibility of the government. He added that the gap between the promises made to farmers and the reality on the ground was becoming increasingly evident, and that the people would certainly hold the Aam Aadmi Party accountable for it.

Farmers’ crops flooded in mandis; despite funds sent by the Centre, farmers still face deductions: Sunil Jakhar

Chandigarh, October 11-Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar criticised the Bhagwant Mann government for failing to make adequate arrangements for paddy procurement, saying that farmers’ paddy had been soaked in the rain because of inadequate arrangements in the mandis.

Jakhar said that the Modi government had sent the funds for paddy procurement, but the AAP government had failed even to put the necessary procurement arrangements in place. He alleged that, under the government’s “model of loot,” farmers were being exploited through hefty deductions from payments for their produce. He said farmers and commission agents were being forced to stage protests, yet the government remained unmoved, and none of its officials had checked on the farmers.

In a message shared on social media, he wrote:

“The Government of India has sent the entire amount required for government procurement of paddy. But Bhagwant Mann ji, it was your government’s responsibility to make arrangements in the mandis. The rain since last night has not only soaked farmers’ crops in the mandis but has also drowned their dreams. If you can spare some time from rushing to lawyers over the corruption cases against you, at least visit the mandis and check on the farmers.”

Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha Protests in Chandigarh, Demands Action Against Congress MP Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Why Is Rahul Gandhi Silent on Serious Allegations Against His Own MP? Questions Jai Inder Kaur

Chandigarh, October 11, 2026:Hundreds of BJP Mahila Morcha workers, led by Punjab State President Jai Inder Kaur, staged a massive protest in Chandigarh against the Congress party over serious allegations of sexual harassment against Congress MP and JNU Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam.

The protesters attempted to march towards the Congress office but were stopped by heavy police barricading. A confrontation followed between the protesters and police personnel, after which several women workers, including Jai Inder Kaur, were taken into police custody.

Speaking to the media, Jai Inder Kaur stated that 11 female students of Jawaharlal Nehru University had accused the Congress MP of sexual harassment and mental harassment. She claimed that the university's internal inquiry had substantiated the allegations, following which JNU dismissed him from service on October 9, 2026.

Questioning the Congress leadership, Jai Inder Kaur said, “Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge frequently speak about women's safety and dignity, but why are they completely silent when serious allegations emerge against their own Member of Parliament? Is protecting their political interests more important than ensuring justice for women?”

She further accused the Congress of shielding its MP and criticised the party's record on women's empowerment, contrasting it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives, including the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

The BJP Mahila Morcha demanded the immediate suspension of the MP from the Congress party, his resignation from the Lok Sabha, strict legal action and a public apology from the Congress leadership to the 11 complainants.

Women's dignity and safety must never be compromised for political convenience. Congress must break its silence and take immediate action,” Jai Inder Kaur asserted.
