Chandigarh, September 27- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday flagged off the ‘Drug-Free Haryana Faridabad Namo Marathon-2026’ from the historic Surajkund, with more than 1.35 lakh people participating in the mega event and raising a collective voice against drugs.

Addressing the participants, the Chief Minister said, “A resounding voice against drugs has risen from the land of Faridabad through the Namo Marathon today.” He said that the steps taken forward in the marathon were not merely a run on the roads, but were carrying forward Haryana’s collective consciousness and resolve against drugs.

More than 1.35 lakh people registered for the grand marathon organised in Faridabad, and almost all the registered participants reached the venue to take part in the event. The massive participation transformed Surajkund into a magnificent reflection of the collective resolve for a drug-free society. Since early morning, the enthusiasm of youth, women, senior citizens, sportspersons, students and people from different sections of society was clearly visible at the venue.

The event went beyond a marathon and emerged as a broad public message of de-addiction, fitness, healthy lifestyle, youth power, social unity and nation-building. A large number of young people participated in the marathon with great enthusiasm, conveying the message of staying away from drugs and channelising their energy in a positive direction. The notable participation of women and senior citizens further underlined that the fight against drugs is not the resolve of any one section, but a shared commitment of the entire society.

*Different Distances, One Destination—Drug-Free Haryana*

Participants took part in different categories of the marathon covering 21 kilometres, 10 kilometres and 5 kilometres. The distance was different, the pace varied and the participants belonged to different age groups, but the destination was the same for everyone—Drug-Free Haryana.

The Chief Minister showered flower petals on the participants and encouraged them. He said that Haryana’s identity is defined by hard work, medals and valour. The youth of Haryana are known not for drugs, but for their hard work, talent and dedication towards their goals. He called upon the youth to firmly say ‘No’ to drugs.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that drugs not only weaken the body, but also snatch away dreams, affect families and hollow out society. He called upon the youth to channelise their energy and talent not into drugs, but into sports, education, skills, employment, innovation and nation-building.

*Surajkund Echoes with Chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’*

During the marathon, the Surajkund complex was imbued with a strong spirit of patriotism and social resolve. The entire atmosphere echoed with chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. The countless steps moving forward together conveyed the message of a healthy society, drug-free youth and a strong nation.

The Chief Minister said that the day’s run was not merely a race to move forward on the road, but a run to advance social awareness against drugs. He extended his greetings to every runner, sportsperson, student, daughter and volunteer participating in the event.

*Chief Minister Administers Pledge for a Drug-Free Society*

During the programme, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini administered a pledge to the large number of participants present, urging them to stay away from drugs and play their role in building a drug-free society. The participants pledged that they would themselves stay away from drugs and also motivate their family members, friends and other people in society to stay away from drugs.

The collective pledge transformed the Namo Marathon from merely a sporting event into a major campaign for social change and public awareness.

The Chief Minister said that the fight against drugs is not the responsibility of the government or the police alone. It is a collective fight involving every household, every school and every village. He urged parents and teachers to maintain open and regular communication with children.

The Chief Minister said that youth is the greatest strength of any nation. Therefore, it is essential to protect youth power from the grip of drugs and channelise their energy towards nation-building. He said that the youth of Haryana have always brought glory to the State and the country on the sporting field. If the State’s youth power remains away from drugs and channels its energy into positive activities, Haryana will achieve new heights of development.

The Faridabad Namo Marathon delivered a strong message of fitness and healthy lifestyle along with the message of de-addiction. The participation of people from different age groups demonstrated that age is no barrier to living a healthy life.

The enthusiasm of youth, participation of women and active involvement of senior citizens emerged as special features of the event. Through the marathon, people conveyed the message of adopting regular exercise, physical activity and a positive lifestyle.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the inspiration for service and resolve comes from Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. To mark the completion of 25 years of Prime Minister’s public service, the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ is being organised from September 17 to October 17. As part of this campaign, the message of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ is being taken to the people. Participants delivered impressive performances in various events of the ‘Drug-Free Haryana Faridabad Namo Marathon-2026’. In the 21.1-kilometre men’s category Prashant Chaudhary emerged as the winner, Vikram Singh secured the first runner-up position, while Anuj Meena finished as the second runner-up.

In the 21.1-kilometre women’s category, Sonika emerged as the winner, while Manav Rana secured the first runner-up position and Bhumika finished as the second runner-up.

In the 10-kilometre men’s category, Rohit Kumar emerged as the winner, Gaurav secured the first runner-up position and Nishant Karhana finished as the second runner-up. Chandigarh, September 27- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the need of the hour in the country is not the politics of allegations, but the politics of facts. He said that in a democracy, the Opposition has every right to oppose the government, raise questions and seek answers, but such questions should be based on facts, and if allegations are levelled against any constitutional institution, there should be concrete evidence to substantiate them.

He said that constitutional institutions such as the Election Commission, the Supreme Court and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) are not institutions belonging to any particular government or political party. Their prestige and credibility are an asset of the entire country and its democratic system. Therefore, despite political differences, maintaining the dignity of these institutions is the collective responsibility of all political parties and citizens.

The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference organised in Gurugram on Sunday. Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Sohna MLA, Sh. Tejpal Tanwar, Pataudi MLA, Smt. Bimla Chaudhary and Media Advisor to Chief Minister Sh. Rajeev Jaitly was also present.

*Opposition Should Present Facts Before Questioning Election Commission’s Functioning*

The Chief Minister said that in recent times, questions have been raised by the Congress and its allied parties regarding the Election Commission, the electoral process and other constitutional institutions. He said that questioning the functioning of any institution may be part of democracy, but making serious allegations without evidence is not appropriate.

He said that the Election Commission is an autonomous constitutional institution entrusted with conducting the electoral process in the country and preparing and updating electoral rolls. The Election Commission itself also works at various levels to include eligible citizens in the electoral rolls and increase voter participation.

*Election Commission Has Clarified Its Position on SIR- Chief Minister*

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini also referred to the questions being raised by the Opposition regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He said that the Election Commission has clarified its position regarding its decisions and the process related to SIR. According to the records of the Election Commission, an order related to SIR was issued on June 24, 2025, following which guidelines were issued in various States and Union Territories.

He said that an attempt was also made to create confusion regarding Form-6 and the declaration form in connection with SIR, whereas the process relating to Form-6 and the relevant declaration form is clearly available on the Election Commission’s existing voter services portal.

*Ensuring Voting Rights of Every Eligible Citizen Is the First Requirement of Democracy*

The Chief Minister said that democracy is not strengthened merely by holding elections. It is essential that electoral rolls are accurate and transparent, every eligible citizen is given the right to vote, elections are free and fair, and public trust in the democratic system remains strong.

He said that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure that no eligible citizen is deprived of the right to vote. He said that during the electoral process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) reach out to voters at the grassroots level and efforts are made to reach eligible citizens who may have been left out. The Election Commission has also stated that during the SIR process, BLOs visit households to collect forms and assist voters.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that political differences are a natural part of democracy, but such differences should not lead to distrust in democratic institutions.

The Chief Minister said that victory and defeat in elections are part of the democratic system. Questioning the credibility of constitutional institutions merely because an election result does not go in one’s favour is not appropriate. The country and democracy are paramount, and all political parties should perform their role in this spirit.

*Today, the Need Is for the Politics of Facts, Not Allegations*

The Chief Minister said that today, the need is not for the politics of allegations, but for the politics of facts. There is a need not to spread confusion, but to place the truth before the people. He said that political parties should present evidence along with their allegations so that the actual situation can be made clear to the public.

He said that instead of weakening constitutional institutions, there is a need of the hour to strengthen them. Raising unnecessary questions about the credibility of institutions ultimately affects public trust in the democratic system.

*Oppose the Government, But Ensure the Dignity of Constitutional Institutions Is Maintained*

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Opposition has every right to oppose the policies of the government. Questions should be raised and answers sought from the government, as this is a hallmark of a healthy democracy.

However, he said that it is necessary to keep political opposition and the dignity of constitutional institutions separate. The Opposition can strongly put forward its views on government schemes, policies and functioning, but before making serious allegations against the Election Commission or other constitutional institutions, facts should be verified, and evidence should be placed before the public.

*Highlights Changes in the Lives of Poor and Deprived Sections*

The Chief Minister, referring to the work undertaken by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi for the poor and deprived sections, said that over the past 12 years, benefits such as housing, LPG connections, ration, healthcare facilities, tap water and financial assistance for farmers have reached poor families.

He said that schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission have impacted the lives of ordinary citizens. The Chief Minister said that the objective of the government is to ensure that the benefits of development reach the last person.

*Need for Responsibility in Speaking on National Security and Sensitive Issues*

The Chief Minister said that all political parties should exercise sensitivity and responsibility while making political statements on matters related to national security. He said that statements on matters related to the armed forces, security and the country’s strategic actions, without concrete information, can create confusion among the people.

He said that in a democracy, the government can be criticised, but the responsibility of political parties becomes even greater when dealing with issues concerning the country’s institutions and national interests.

*Removal of Article 370 Expanded Democratic Rights of People in Jammu and Kashmir: Chief Minister*

The Chief Minister said that following the removal of Article 370 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, democratic rights and political participation in Jammu and Kashmir have expanded.

The Chief Minister said that the people are also observing the actions of the Opposition and how questions are being raised about the dignity of constitutional institutions in the name of political opposition. He said that in a democracy, the final decision rests with the people, and in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections too, the people will exercise their right to vote and assess the work and conduct of political parties.

The Chief Minister, referring to Punjab, criticised the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party. He said that during the Congress regime, the problem of drug abuse remained serious in Punjab and was not effectively addressed.

He said that even during the subsequent Aam Aadmi Party government, concerns among the people regarding the drug problem continued. He said that the thinking of the Opposition parties has been that if the youth remain caught in drug abuse, they will not raise questions about employment and their rights.

He said that concerning the future of Punjab’s youth and the problem of drug abuse, there is a need to focus on concrete action and results rather than politics.

He said that this resolve can be fulfilled only when every citizen understands their responsibility and actively contributes to nation-building.

The Minister called upon the villagers not to limit themselves to merely listening to the Prime Minister’s messages, but to put them into practice in their daily lives and social activities. He said that small positive efforts, when combined, can become the foundation for significant social transformation. Collective efforts in areas such as village development, cleanliness, environmental conservation, education, sports and public service can further strengthen society.

He said that the villages of Haryana are also playing an important role in fulfilling the resolve of building a developed India. The government’s objective is to strengthen basic facilities in villages, accelerate development in rural areas and ensure better facilities for the people.

Chandigarh, September 27- Haryana Education Minister Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that the guidelines for the ‘Haryana Patent Support, Commercialisation and Innovation Facilitation Policy 2026-27’ have been officially issued with the objective of strengthening research, technological advancement and innovation in the State.

The Education Minister said that the policy would prove to be a milestone for students and researchers studying in all government and government-aided colleges, technical institutions and state universities across Haryana.

100% Financial Assistance to Promote Innovation

The Education Minister said that the State Government’s objective is not merely to provide knowledge to the youth, but also to encourage them to undertake new research and develop patents of global standards. Under the policy, if any student, researcher or institution gets a patent for its innovation registered, the Haryana Government will reimburse 100 per cent of the registration fee, up to a maximum of Rs. 50,000.

Guidelines and Implementation Orders Issued

Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that following approval by the competent authority, the detailed guidelines related to the scheme have been issued and necessary implementation orders have been sent to all concerned colleges and universities.

The Education Minister appealed to all educational institutions in the State to activate research and innovation centres on their campuses so that more and more young people can avail themselves of the incentive and secure their intellectual property rights.

On the occasion, under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the Chief Minister honoured sportspersons who have brought laurels to the country and the State through outstanding performances in various sporting disciplines.

The Chief Minister also planted saplings at the venue, conveying the message of environmental conservation, and called upon people to plant more and more saplings and remain conscious of the need to protect the environment.

The Chief Minister honoured Yug, a boxer, for winning two gold medals at the international level, including an Asian gold medal in Thailand. Nikita Sehrawat was felicitated for securing a silver medal at the Under-17 World Wrestling Championship, while Subodh Bhatt was recognised for winning three gold and two bronze medals in international competitions. Nishant Dayma won one gold and two silver medals in national-level wrestling competitions, while Sachin secured a bronze medal at the National Junior Wrestling Championship. Priya Yadav has brought laurels to the country by winning two gold, two silver and four bronze medals at the international level. Srishti has also made the country proud by winning medals on four occasions at the Senior World Championship, while Vivek Bhardwaj won a bronze medal at the Global Grappling Series Wrestling in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Chandigarh, September 27- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini saidthat Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has never been concerned about taking a holiday or prioritising rest. For him, 140 crore Indians are his family. The pain of the poor, the concerns of farmers and the aspirations of the youth are his own. The dignity of mothers and sisters remains his foremost priority, while the courage of soldiers guarding the nation’s borders is his resolve.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a programme organised at Goad village in Mahendragarh on Sunday to welcome the Seva Sankalp Yatra, a motorcycle journey being undertaken from Vadnagar in Gujarat to Varanasi. He welcomed the participants of the yatra and later flagged it off for its onward journey.

Describing the yatra as a journey from service to resolve, from resolve to achievement and from achievement to a developed India, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that Mahendragarh is a land of history, valour, public consciousness and national pride. Welcoming the yatra to the region, he termed its arrival a memorable occasion.

He said that the journey from Vadnagar to Varanasi also symbolises the inspiring life journey of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. While Vadnagar is his birthplace, Varanasi is his karmabhoomi, from where the resolve to build a developed India by taking forward the country’s rich heritage alongside its modern aspirations has gained further momentum.

The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister has made public service the core purpose of his political life. After assuming office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, he is set to complete 25 years of uninterrupted public service on October 7. Throughout this journey, the welfare of the poor and taking the country to new heights have remained his key priorities, he said.

*India Leading the Digital Revolution*

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that after becoming Prime Minister in 2014, Sh. Narendra Modi gave a clarion call for cleanliness from the Red Fort. The Swachh Bharat Mission was subsequently taken forward by linking cleanliness with the health of the poor, the dignity of women and the honour of the nation. Through the Ujjwala Yojana, poor women were freed from the hardships of smoke-filled kitchens, while initiatives were undertaken to provide electricity to every household, tap water, Jan Dhan accounts and pucca houses.

He said that Ayushman Bharat has provided poor families with greater assurance of access to healthcare, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi has provided financial support to farmers, while free ration ensured food security for crores of families during times of crisis.

The Chief Minister said that India is today leading the digital revolution, with UPI emerging as a global example. He said that the country’s youth are creating a new identity for India in areas such as startups, space technology, drones, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, defence production and green energy.

He said that the Indian tricolour is now flying near the southern pole of the Moon, a region that no other country had reached earlier. He described this achievement as a reflection of the confidence of a new India that has the courage to set ambitious goals and accomplish them. India, he said, is no longer merely following paths created by others, but is emerging as a nation that shows new paths to the world.

The Chief Minister said that India’s approach and identity in the field of national security have also undergone a transformation over the past 12 years. India seeks peace, but does not compromise on its security. Terrorism is given a befitting response, he said. Modern resources are being provided to the armed forces, while self-reliance in defence production is being strengthened.

He said that defence equipment manufactured in India is now also reaching other countries. The abrogation of Article 370 helped bring Jammu and Kashmir into the mainstream of development, while the implementation of One Rank, One Pension has ensured due recognition of the rights of ex-servicemen.

*World’s Largest Vaccination Drive Conducted in India*

Recalling the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister said that when even several resource-rich countries appeared helpless, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi led the country with determination and foresight. Indian scientists developed an indigenous vaccine and the world’s largest vaccination drive was undertaken in the country.

He said that India’s voice is today heard with respect on the global stage. The successful conduct of India’s G20 Presidency and the recently held BRICS Summit showcased the country’s organisational capabilities, cultural strength and leadership before the world. India is now regarded as a trusted partner, a nation capable of offering solutions and a strong voice for humanity, he said.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Prime Minister has conveyed the message that development and heritage are not contradictory, but complement and strengthen each other. Alongside modern infrastructure such as expressways, Vande Bharat trains, new airports, digital technology and industrial corridors, the country is also witnessing the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Mahakal Lok and the revival of its cultural heritage. India is moving confidently towards the future while remaining proud of its roots, he said.

Addressing the youth participating in the yatra, the Chief Minister said that a motorcycle requires energy for speed, balance for direction and discipline to reach its destination. These three qualities are equally important in life. He called upon the youth to channel their energy towards nation-building, stay away from drugs, violence, despair and negativity, and make sports, libraries, laboratories, farms, industries and startups their fields of endeavour.

He urged the participants to undertake an act of service at every halt during the journey. He said the yatra should carry forward the message of service and patriotism and further strengthen the resolve of a developed India.

The Chief Minister also appealed to the participants to maintain discipline, follow traffic rules and ensure road safety throughout the journey. Praying to Baba Vishwanath for continued blessings on the yatra, he said that the caravan of service should continue to move forward and the flame of patriotism should remain lit in every heart.

*E-Library to Be Set Up in God: Chief Minister*

During the programme, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini announced several development works for Mahendragarh. He said that the State Government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the development of the region.

On the demand of former Nangal Chaudhary MLA Dr Abhay Singh Yadav, the Chief Minister announced that the waterworks in Balah Kalan village would be connected to the canal through a pipeline. He also announced the establishment of an e-library in God village, construction of a paved road from the farm of Hanuman Singh in Balah Khurd up to the Rajasthan border, and construction of a gymnasium on vacant land opposite the Balaji Temple in Balah Khurd village.

*Chief Minister Interacts with Youth Participating in Seva Yatra*

After the programme, the Chief Minister interacted with the youth participating in the Seva Yatra from Vadnagar to Varanasi. The participants shared their experiences from the Rajasthan leg of the journey with the Chief Minister.

They said that when the yatra reached Nachna village in Jaisalmer district, a 90-year-old man shared that he had received free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Similarly, while passing through Bikaner district, a woman told the participants that during the tenure of the present government, she had received a free LPG connection for her household as well as a free house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister presented a Happy Card to a woman beneficiary under the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana. He also interacted with beneficiaries of the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana and Samman Bhatta Yojana, heard their experiences and felicitated them.

*Sankalp Yatra Taking Prime Minister’s 25-Year Journey of Service to the People: Dr Archana Gupta*

Addressing the gathering, BJP State President Dr Archana Gupta said that the Sankalp Yatra from Vadnagar to Varanasi, accompanied by Seva Mitras, has entered Haryana from Rajasthan. She said that young participants have joined the yatra because Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has exemplified the spirit of service, good governance, sacrifice and dedication during his 25 years in public life.

She said that the motorcycle yatra has been undertaken to express gratitude for the Prime Minister’s 25 years of service. Dr Archana Gupta said that the Haryana Government has undertaken several development works in southern Haryana. She said that Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has introduced new initiatives for the region and taken several measures to benefit bajra growers. The government has also extended benefits to farmers through mechanisms such as the Bhavantar Bharpai scheme.

She said that the Chief Minister has made it clear that every grain of farmers’ produce in Haryana will be procured. Haryana, she said, has become the first State to provide MSP for all crops, and the Chief Minister has resolved that not a single grain of farmers’ produce should go to waste.

Member of Parliament Sh. Dharambir Singh said that there has been an atmosphere of celebration across the country since September 17 and that the Sankalp Yatra, which began from Vadnagar, provides an opportunity to recall Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public life.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, significant work has been undertaken towards addressing terrorism, Naxalism and issues related to Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast. Amid changing weather patterns and inadequate rainfall, steps have also been taken towards interlinking rivers, creating water bodies and raising groundwater levels.

The MP said that after Sh. Narendra Modi took charge of Gujarat, the state underwent significant transformation. Over the past 12 years, the country has also witnessed major changes in connectivity, railways, roads and healthcare facilities. Schemes such as Ayushman Bharat have enabled people to access healthcare services, he said.

He said that Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, too, remains engaged throughout the day in resolving people’s problems, in the same spirit as the Prime Minister. Addressing the programme, former MLA Dr Abhay Singh Yadav said that the government has given a new lease of life to this region of southern Haryana. He said that when the government came to power in 2014, the area was facing a shortage of drinking water and agriculture had almost come to a standstill. Farmers also faced difficulties in sustaining their crops.

He said that the results of the government’s efforts to ensure water availability are now visible in the prosperity of farmers. The BJP government in the State, he said, has provided the district with major projects such as a medical college, a logistics hub and the 152-D National Highway. These development works have strengthened facilities and connectivity in the region.
