Chandigarh August 20: Punjab Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria honoured Commonwealth Games (CWG)-2026 silver medallist and international weightlifter Harjinder Kaur at Punjab Lok Bhavan, Chandigarh, in recognition of her outstanding sporting achievement.

Congratulating Harjinder Kaur on her remarkable performance, the Governor said that her success has brought pride and honour to Punjab as well as the entire country. He appreciated her dedication, discipline and perseverance, which have enabled her to consistently excel at the international level.

Harjinder Kaur has continued her impressive journey in the Commonwealth Games, having earlier won a bronze medal at the CWG-2022 held in Birmingham. Her latest silver medal at CWG-2026 further reflects her consistency, hard work and determination on the international sporting stage.

Shri Kataria said that sportspersons like Harjinder Kaur are a source of inspiration for the younger generation and encourage more youth, especially girls, to take up sports and strive for excellence.

The Governor wished her continued success in future national and international competitions and expressed confidence that she would bring many more laurels to Punjab and India.

Harjinder Kaur expressed gratitude to the Governor for the honour and encouragement.
