Chandigarh, August 15, 2026:Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.
The event was attended by Director Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Puneet Chawla, Associate Deans of Student Affairs (ADSA), faculty members, staff, students and their family members.
The programme commenced with the assembly and welcome, followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Director Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia. The National Anthem was followed by an NCC Parade and the Director’s address. Prof. Bhatia emphasised the importance of national spirit, unity and collective responsibility, encouraging students to uphold the values of patriotism and service to the nation. He also thanked the students and the entire PEC community for their enthusiastic participation in the celebrations.
The celebrations continued with a technical display and the release of balloons, followed by a vibrant cultural programme in the auditorium. The programme featured performances by the Music Club, Dramatics Club, English Editorial Board (EEB), Hindi Editorial Board (HEB), and Punjabi Editorial Board (PEB). The performances showcased the diverse talents and creativity of the student community, adding to the patriotic spirit of the occasion.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the singing of the National Anthem, marking a memorable celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day and reaffirming the PEC community’s commitment to unity, patriotism and service to the nation.
