Chandigarh, June 9: The Bihar delegation visiting Punjab under Yuva Sangam Phase VI called on the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, at Punjab Lok Bhavan, Chandigarh, on June 9, 2026. The interaction formed the centrepiece of the second day of the delegation’s six-day visit to Punjab.

The visit is being coordinated by IIT Ropar, the nodal institution for Punjab, under the Ministry of Education’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.

Welcoming the young delegates, Shri Kataria held a detailed interaction with them on the cultural, historical and emotional bonds that connect Bihar and Punjab. He said that Yuva Sangam is much more than a government programme, describing it as a direct outcome of the vision and resolve of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He noted that the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative was conceived with the dream that India’s youth should see not only their own state, but the entire nation, as their home.

The Governor appreciated the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for giving Yuva Sangam its present shape and said that such exchanges would help create lasting bonds of friendship among young people from different parts of the country. He expressed confidence that the interaction between the youth of Bihar and Punjab would strengthen the spirit of national integration.

Highlighting the rich legacy of both states, Shri Kataria said that Bihar, the land of enlightenment and Nalanda, and Punjab, the land of courage and the Sikh Gurus, together represent the deepest roots of India’s civilisation, wisdom and spirit of sacrifice.

He encouraged the delegates to experience Punjab with an open mind, understand its Guru traditions, learn about its agricultural heritage and return to Bihar not merely with memories, but with a sense of belonging to an extended family.

Later in the day, the Bihar delegation visited some of Chandigarh’s prominent landmarks, including Sukhna Lake, Sector 17 Market and the New Chandigarh Cricket Stadium.

The six-day programme under Yuva Sangam Phase VI aims to promote people-to-people connect among youth from different states and deepen their understanding of India’s cultural diversity, shared heritage and national unity.
