Chandigarh, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh organized plantation drives across all wards of the city under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign. As part of the initiative, a plantation programme was held in Sector 56, Ward No. 29, under the leadership of Mandal President Ramesh Chaudhary.
BJP Chandigarh President Jitender Pal Malhotra attended the programme as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by State Media Incharge Ravi Rawat, District President Rekha Sood, District General Secretary Krishan Kant, Raj Kumar Rana, State Kisan Morcha President Mandeep Singh, along with district and mandal office bearers and party workers.
During the programme, leaders and workers planted saplings and pledged to contribute towards environmental conservation while encouraging citizens to take part in tree plantation activities.
Addressing the gathering, BJP Chandigarh President Jitender Pal Malhotra said that environmental protection is not merely a one-day observance but a responsibility towards ensuring a secure future for coming generations. Trees are the foundation of life and are essential for clean air, pure water, and ecological balance. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign is not just a plantation drive but an emotional and social movement that combines respect for mothers with the protection of nature. If every individual plants and nurtures at least one tree, a significant positive impact on the environment can be achieved.
He further stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party remains committed to creating awareness about environmental protection and working towards a greener and more sustainable India. The campaign organized on World Environment Day serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility towards nature.
At the conclusion of the programme, all participants pledged to take care of the planted saplings and spread awareness about environmental conservation among the public.
