F&CC approves record 67 development works worth ₹1471 lacs in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, April 27:- In a landmark decision, the Finance & Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi, approved a record 67 development agenda items amounting to ₹1471 lakh marking one of the highest-ever approvals in the civic body’s history.

The meeting, attended by MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar and committee members namely Sh. Harjeet Sing, Sh. Jasbeer Singh Bunty, Sh. Kanwarjeet Singh, Sh. Yogesh Dhingra and other senior officers of MCC, focused on accelerating infrastructure development and enhancing civic amenities across the city.

Key approvals include renovation of multiple community centres in Sunder Nagar, Sector 49, Sector 41, Sector 43 and Sector 56; upgradation of markets in Sectors 7, 22 and 37–38 with decorative and LED lighting; and installation and replacement of street lighting systems, including octagonal poles in Sectors 27 and 28.

Major emphasis was laid on road and street infrastructure, with extensive works approved for paver blocks, footpaths, internal streets, parking areas, and berm strengthening across sectors and villages like Attawa, Hallomajra and Mauli Jagran.

The Committee also sanctioned public health and sanitation works, including construction and renovation of multiple public toilet blocks, sewerage strengthening in EWS colonies, SWD pipelines, and repairs at water works and boundary walls.

Green initiatives include landscaping of parks and green belts, repair of fountains, development of open spaces, and installation of play equipment and benches. Additionally, projects like vending zones, footbridge reconstruction, fencing works, and procurement of machinery were approved.

The Mayor stated that these decisions reflect MCC’s commitment to holistic urban development, improved public infrastructure, and enhanced quality of life for residents.

The committee accorded approval for the following agenda items:-
• Renovation of community centre of Sunder Nagar Maulijagran Part-2, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.04 lakh.
• Providing street lights at various locations in ward No.1, M.C., Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 45.49 lakh.
• Providing decorative lights in market, Sector 37 C&D Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 49.73 lakh.
• Providing decorative lights in market, Sector 38 C& D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 47.39 lakh.
• Special repair of water body and providing sequencing water fountain in green belt at Sector 37 C&D and Sector 38 C&D Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 46.21 lakh.
• Providing and fixing of new type children play equipments in various parks of EWS Colony, Sector 38 (W), DMC Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.95 lakh.
• Fencing with Jaffery on boundary wall for Civil Dispensary at Sector 49-D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.52 lakh.
• Providing and re-fixing 60 mm paver block internal street at village Attawa and Multipurpose Complex, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 36.02 lakh.
• Special repair and renovation of Community Centre at Sector-49, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 42.71 lakh.
• Providing and Fixing 60mm Thick Paver Blocks or Roads Berm along Boundary Wall Opposite Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya Complex Industrial Area Ph-1, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.31 lakh.
• Providing and fixing of Paver Block after dismantling of existing paver block on V-4 road in Sector 20 A&B Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 22.13 lakh.
• Reconstruction of Paver Blocks Footpath along Road Berm in EWS Colony in Sector 32 C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 17.20 lakh.
• Repair of Paver Blocks around the various park in Sector 28 B&C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 44.41 lakh.
• Repair of boundary wall Enforcement store in Industrial Area Ph-l, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 8.37 lakh.
• Repair of existing Toe Wall MS Railing & footpath and Construction of Toe Wall with ralling at missing portion at open land in Gobindpura Manimajra, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 19.18 lakh.
• Renovation of 1 No. public toilet block near 20-30 light point Sector 30-C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 18.50 lakh.
• Renovation of 1 No. public toilet block near Booth No.9 Sector 30-C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 14.59 lakh.
• Providing, fixing of concertina wire fencing on existing angle iron posts including replacement of required barbed wire repair of damaged part of boundary wall at water works Sector-39 Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 28.48 lakh.
• Strengthening, providing & laying of 200MM (8") I/0 S.W. Pipes, construction and strengthening of machine holes for smooth disposal of sewage in EWS Colony, Sector 37C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 35.78 lakh.
• Replacement of old/obsolete street light poles with octagonal poles Sector 27 V4 Road, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.29 lakh.
• Replacement of old/obsolete street light poles with octagonal poles Sector 28 V4 Road, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 37.27 lakh.
• The work of uplifting & repair of paver blocks around Community Centre in Sector 35-B, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.75 lakh.
• The work of Providing, supplying, fixing & placing of roller blinds, MC Logo, dry-cleaning sofa sets & re-newing glass panes in Community Center Sector-41, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.90 lakh.
• Repair and Renovation of Sampark & Anganwadi Building 136-146 at Village Sarangpur, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 13.44 lakh.
• Up-gradation of front of Market at Sector-7, Madhya Marg, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 49.89 lakh.
• Providing and Fixing missing stainless steel House Indicator Boards in Sector-41, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.39 lakh.
• Landscaping works in 07 nos. various green belts/parks of Sector 40, Chandigarh by P&P of decorative and ornamental plants at an estimated cost of Rs. 14.89 lakh.
• Development of open space near light point at intersection of Sector 38 West and Sector 39 West, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 5.02 lakh.
