CHANDIGARH, 18.04.26-The Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) is being actively implemented across government schools in Chandigarh, bringing a meaningful transformation in the way students learn and engage.
Focused on the core values of Respect, Excellence, and Friendship, OVEP aims to nurture well-rounded individuals by integrating values into everyday school experiences. The programme is being effectively facilitated by the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust, which is currently covering 108 government schools in Chandigarh.
Teachers are incorporating OVEP into their daily teaching practices, ensuring that values are not just taught but also demonstrated through behavior. Students are enthusiastically taking part in various activities that promote teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect.
Sh. Nitish Singla, PCS, Director School Education, Chandigarh Administration, said, "OVEP is helping us build classrooms where values are lived every day. When students learn respect, excellence and friendship through sports, culture and academics, they carry these life skills beyond school. The enthusiasm of our teachers and students shows that Chandigarh is ready to lead by example in value based education."
A key strength of OVEP lies in its holistic approach, where activities are designed to be:
* Physical - encouraging active participation through games and movement-based learning
* Cultural - helping students appreciate diversity, traditions, and inclusivity
* Subject-Integrated - blending values seamlessly into academic subjects for deeper understanding
This integrated approach ensures that learning goes beyond textbooks, helping students develop life skills and positive attitudes alongside academic growth. Through regular monthly orientations and teachers' training by the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust (ABFT), educators are consistently supported in effectively delivering OVEP. The active involvement of teachers and students is playing a crucial role in strengthening school culture and embedding Olympic values across Chandigarh.
