He emphasized that every individual possesses immense sporting potential and added that youth and sports remain central to his interests. Highlighting the importance of hard work, he said, “Victory comes only when you sweat.” He also urged the youth to stay away from drugs, noting that substance abuse weakens both individuals and society. He cautioned that many young people begin with cigarettes or alcohol and gradually drift towards drugs, which poses a serious threat. He advised students to avoid bad company and confront challenges rather than escaping from them.
Appreciating NCC and NSS volunteers, he said they exemplify the spirit of putting the nation before self. He encouraged students to seize opportunities, remain committed, and continuously strive for learning, as dedication is the key to success.
Referring to India’s progress, he highlighted advancements in the defence sector, the growth of startups, and expanding opportunities for youth. He stressed that adopting technology and being lifelong learners are essential beyond formal degrees. He further inspired students to go beyond textbooks, engage in research, and actively contribute to positive social change.
Shri Thakur also spoke about various welfare initiatives in his constituency, including educational and nutritional support for underprivileged children under the ‘Ek Se Shreshtha’ scheme, doorstep medical services through the ‘MP Mobile Service’, exposure visits under ‘Sansad Bharat Darshan Yojana’, and leadership development through the ‘Yuva Changemakers Scheme’.
Expressing confidence in India’s future, he stated that “with strong determination, the dream of making India a developed nation before 2047 will certainly be realized.” He also paid tribute to the armed forces for ensuring the nation’s security.
On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar described the track as a significant addition to the University’s infrastructure that will provide new momentum to sports activities. He stated that while the University is progressing steadily in research and innovation, it is equally committed to promoting health and holistic development through sports. He added that consistent national and international rankings reflect the University’s growth and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing greats portspersons.
During the event, a book authored by Prof. Ramesh Kumar and Prof. Surender Singh of RKSD College, Kaithal (Kurukshetra University) was released. Shri Thakur also planted a sapling on the campus, reiterating his commitment to environmental conservation. He interacted with teachers and students from Himachal Pradesh studying at the University and appreciated their contributions. He also met NCC cadets of 16 Haryana Battalion and NSS volunteers.
