Chandigarh, 27 February: The Postgraduate Department of Economics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised its annual fest, Econoverse 2026, to foster analytical thinking, creativity, and a practical understanding of Economics among students.
The programme was graced by Dr. Meena Sharma, Professor, University Business School, Panjab University, as the Chief Guest. In her insightful address, she encouraged students to explore Economics beyond textbooks and connect theoretical concepts with real-life applications. She emphasised the importance of critical thinking, innovation, and experiential learning in understanding contemporary economic challenges.
A major highlight of the fest was Quiz-E-Biz, featuring multiple engaging rounds designed to test analytical skills and subject knowledge, including the Economic Concepts Round, Business Round, Clue Round, Visual Round, and an exciting Rapid Fire Round. Wordoganza challenged participants to craft creative captions blending wit with economic insight within a limited timeframe. Economics Antakshari strengthened conceptual clarity and vocabulary through an interactive format, while Marketing Ke Baazigar – ‘Selling the Unsellable!’ showcased innovation and persuasive communication skills. The fest concluded with Meme-O-Nomics, where economic concepts were creatively presented through humour-filled performances. Marked by enthusiastic participation and vibrant engagement, the fest witnessed 67 participants competing across a range of intellectually stimulating and creatively designed events.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma congratulated the organisers and participants for making the event a resounding success and appreciated the department’s efforts in creating platforms that promote experiential learning and intellectual growth.
