Chandigarh, 26.02.2026: The Education Department under Samagra Shiksha, UT Chandigarh successfully organized the Annual Interschool Sports Meet for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) at the Sports Complex, Sector 7, Chandigarh. A total of approx 320 CWSN participated in different games like badminton, cricket, cycling ,football, softball throw and races.

During the first phase of the Annual Interschool Sports Meet conducted at GMSSS Sector 23 Chandigarh, several sports activities were organized - Soft ball throw, badminton, football and cricket for different categories of CWSN where they participated with zeal and sportsmanship.

The second phase, held at the Sports Complex, Sector 7, where Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Nitish Singla, State Project Director –cum-Director School Education, Chandigarh. He graced the event and motivated the participants with his encouraging words. In his address, the Chief Guest appreciated the relentless efforts of the students, teachers, special educators, organizers, and supporting staff. He applauded the initiative for promoting inclusivity, confidence, and physical well-being among Children With Special Needs.

The event commenced with an impressive March Past by the participating students. Their discipline, coordination, and enthusiasm created an atmosphere filled with pride and celebration.

The second phase featured a variety of track and field events including: 100-Metre Race, Cycling Race, Wheelchair Races . These events were organized for both boys and girls across different categories such as: Intellectual Disability (ID), Locomotor Disability Multiple Disabilities, HI and other categories.

The students demonstrated remarkable determination, discipline, courage, and enthusiasm throughout the competitions. The wheelchair race emerged as one of the most inspiring and captivating events of the day, beautifully reflecting the spirit of resilience and perseverance among the participants.

All winners from both the phases were felicitated by the Chief Guest and senior officers from Education Department during the concluding ceremony in recognition of the students’ outstanding performances and sportsmanship.

The Annual Sports Day concluded successfully, leaving everyone inspired and reaffirming the commitment of the Education Department towards inclusive and holistic development of every child.
