MUMBAI, 29.01.26-I am Shreya singh, was born in Deoria, UP but raised in a city which welcomes all with open heart, Lucknow. I always had an inclination towards creative side of life. Which eventually got in into NIFT, Mumbai where costune designing subject was choosen by me .Life has been kind and I have never failed to work both smart and hard.
You know, people often ask me what it's like to dress a legend like Sunny Deol or a style icon like Diljit Dosanjh. My answer is always the same: it’s not about the clothes; it’s about the heartbeat of the character.
I’ve been fortunate enough to bridge the gap between the scale of Bollywood—working with the likes of Ranbir Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui—and the soulful, rapidly evolving world of Pollywood. Last year was a bit of a whirlwind with the nomination for Jatt and Juliet 3, but if you want to know what truly pushed me as a designer, you have to look at GURU NANAK JAHAAJ and JOMBIELAND.
One required deep, historical reverence; the other was a wild, creative experiment in genre. That’s the beauty of where the industry is right now.
My Take on the Two Industries
* Bollywood is all about that polished, microscopic detail. When you’re working with Nawazuddin, the costume has to feel lived-in, like a second skin that carries its own history.
* Pollywood is in its 'experimental' era. It’s no longer just about looking good; it’s about world-building. Projects like JOMBIELAND show that Punjabi cinema is ready to take massive visual risks.
The lines are blurring, and the talent is crossing over more than ever. It’s an incredible time to be the one deciding what these icons wear when the camera rolls.
